1 Smoktech RSST Pyrex Rebuildable Atomizer RBA Authentic New | eBay

I'm almost more excited for this than for the Russian 91% I ordered haha because my RSST is kicking so much .... with the 500 mesh I'm using right now.

On that note, What is your opinion on Kayfun style vs Genesis style?

Me, I got so fed up with my current kayfun clone ($40 ebay special) that I gave up on it for right now. It either leaks or gets dry hits, and does so alternately with the same build at the same airflow setting. What a joke! Hoping the build quality on the 91% will help with that because mine is pretty cheapy. I even did something called a chimney build on the kayfun clone, where the coils are vertical and the cotton is wrapped AROUND the coils, not inside of them. A guy called Rip Trippers has a video on youtube showing how to build this, looks pretty sweet and worked fine for a while. But those dang dry hits!

RSST however works fantastic once the build is right. I sort of swear by 100% non diluted Mt. Baker VG juice which is like syrup. I'll dilute it with distilled water if I have to, but when I do this, my kayfun clone floods every time. with just the 100% VG it works fine, but the airflow has to be fairly tight for it to function properly, and I like my draw more open. My RSST is drilled out to 1/16th of an inch which is great.

Kayfun is being build with 6-9 wraps of 32ga kanthal with cotton wicks. I don't boil or treat them and have tried nearly every wick arrangement you can imagine. Ohms come out around 2-3.5. Volts are running anywhere between 4.8-6 volts depending on the build. The chimey build was 4.3 volts because I had to use so many wraps. Haven't received my 28ga kanthal yet

RSST is built with 500 mesh with 32ga kanthal, 3 wraps at 1.4 ohms. vaping at 3.9 volts

All being used on none other than a Provari

Opinions/thoughts?

Edit: sorry, the chimney build was 4.3 OHMS, not volts

Weird, I have the exact opposite problem, both my kayfun lite plus clones works fanastic with any build I put in it but my RSST has NEVER gave me a good vape. Also I've found kayfuns don't really perform well with 32 awg kanthal, 28 awg is leaps and bounds better. 7 wrap micro coil gets me between 1.1 to 1.3 ohms at 3.4 to 3.8 volts on my Provari.

I hate genesis style attys. I think they look bad, and I think the perform even worse. But, I also dislike the kayfun types too. No fun for me with tanked rebuildables. Maybe I need a reo...

why will a Reo improve things? its the atty that makes the vapor not the battery system. and I luv my RSST, R91C, KFC. I do find the RSST the easiest to work with, no tank draining to change wicks/coils.

The reo has a bottom feeder juice bottle so I can use an RDA without a tank, but it's got a tank, so I don't have to drip.

Do you guys think the 19mm spec is accurate on the width? I think the standard RSST is something like 21 or 22mm, or the exact width of my provari. I think protanks are 19mm, which matches the width of the bottleneck part of my 510 connector, if that makes sense. I feel like the 19mm spec is inaccurate. Glad you guys have been successful finding them, there isnt much out there

I thought i hated genesis type attys too. I had an RSST, rebuilt it twice and got tired of how it sucked and sold it to a friend. Then one day my cousin got the Kraken and I did a build on it and loved it and ordered myself one. Now its just pure awesomeness.

Where are you seeing 19mm? It's 22mm.

Haha madness! I've never seen an RSST or any RBA built like that! nicely done sir. How is that vaping? Cotton right? Anyway, I got mine on monday at the same time I got my Russian 91%. Loving both tanks, but loving the RSST V2 more right now! Hate to say it because I paid almost 3X as much for the Russian. The only truly successful build I've had on my Russian 91% is a chimney build. Standard style build was leaking and giving me alternate dry hits. Silica build was a miserable fail and I got the worst dry hit of my life and nearly frickin died.
Here's the Russian on my Provari with the steel tank (I have Mount Baker juice crackers)

And here are some pictures of the official RSST V2!

The top cap is from my RSST V1, they fit exactly the same. I'm using the old one because I already drilled it out to 1/16" and am too lazy to drill the new top cap since they're the same thing. The entire bottom part of the tank is insulated with what I presume is silicon, and it has a cool silicon ring that runs around the base that your wick sits on. SmokTech did an excellent job on this version and I'm not positive about this, but it seems like it holds more juice too. Hopefully they didn't sacrifice fragility for capacity because I can't imagine that replacement pyrex tanks are going to be easy to come by for a while.

So there you have it. The pyrex RSST is real and vapes awesome. Built it exactly like my other one. Hefty amount of 500 mesh and 3 wraps of 32ga, kanthal. 1.8 ohms vaping between 4.0 and 4.5 volts. Even if you have an existing RSST, I think the upgrade is worth it because I was so leery about using tank cracking juice in the original, and don't have to worry with the new one.

It's a great day to be a vaper

Well I'm fairly dumbfounded still by that dang Russian 91%. I had a very successful couple builds on it and the key for me seems to be keeping the cotton fluffy and fluffing it down to the feed deck and over the channels. I vaped through two whole tanks and it didn't have an issue until I filled it again. Filled it once and it started gurgling and majorly leaking. Drained it again, replaced the cotton with new fluffiness and it started leaking but not gurgling. Not sure if it was leftover leakage from the last build or not so I drained it and filled my rsst up and called it good for the day not wanting to have a leaking headpiece at work

For all it was worth, I liked my Pyrex RSST. I got generally more and more tired of its type, but it worked very well for what it was. Went Fogger route as of last night and really loving it. Wasting juice via condensation that just goes nowhere was my main issue and natural overflow of SS wicks in RSST. Btw,

Cotton around the wick hole helped contain some of the juice around the coil, but ultimately I hated having any cotton on there as it was prone to getting burnt sooner than later.

Smart to set the wick up that way. Maybe ekowool would be more successful. I've been putting a gob of cotton just in the head piece behind the screw, and it doesn't have any impact on the wicking, just absorbs the extra and helps with the leaks. Your way looks better though. My setup is a 500 mesh 2.4 ohm microcoil with 28ga kanthal and DAMN that thing is a fog machine and a pig to boot. Vapes clouds like a dripper. The pyrex RSST has been my main vape since I got it, even above my $90 Russian 91% lol
