authentic Vivi Nova Metal tank on un authentic Vivi......tastes like metal

So finally after a long few days, arguing with vendor about authenticity and my right to post negative feedback on their facebook page (long story) and working with this piece of junk knock off they sold me to try and make the authentic tube work I finally got it to work. I had to sand down the bottom of the tube, and apply (off another knock off vivi head) another rubber topcap over the top of the first making it stand up about a sixteenth inch farther. Now I have it filled, don't appear to have any leaking issues and the first couple hits taste good, but now it taste like metal? I know it's not the item itself, it has to be something I did in this scenario. Any suggestions?
