I apologize if these have been asked before but I couldn't find them in a search.

Up until now I have only used auto batteries and just ordered a manual. After using it for awhile I really don't have a preference but got kind of curious...

What are the pros and cons between auto and manual batteries? I have heard that bumps or loud noises can sometimes set off an auto, true? Anything else I should know?

Also, I have a carrying case that holds regular size batteries but have been eyeing the XLs. What are the major differences between them and the regulars? I noticed that my regular manual has the 13 second cut off so is it a matter of time between charges?

I know, questions, questions. :D

I prefer manuals because they are sealed..liquid doesn't drip down in the batt and make it sticky! Some people don't have this problem, but I do and i also tend to overfill.
The batts have a certain vaping life..like 2 hours for a shorty, 3 or 4 hours for a regular and 5 to 6 hours for an exrta long. It all depends on your vaping style.

I don't understand or care about cutoffs..someone else will have to answer you on that point!

I forgot to answer about the autos turning on by themselves due to loud noise or strong wind. I don't think the current autos have that problem. I use to vape 901's and that was a problem a while back..it never happened to me though. Of course I don't live in Cheyenne any more..60MPH winds are normal for them..that wind comes down from the mountain like a hurricane! And I haven't been to a live concert in ..let's say a bunch of years.

I use manuals because of the increase in control and never having that "I have to draw really hard to get a hit" problem I keep seeing in threads. You push the button and it's on. No problems. I also get a longer period of "full charge" feel with the XL's. When a battery's charge starts to run down I don't get as good of a hit. I'm almost exclusively XL manual these days. Others have their own preferences. It's a personal thing. I do keep a manual shorty for stealth vaping when I'm out and about. It's just easier to conceal. I don't know if this helps as it's just my opinion. Good luck finding your perfect setup.
