AUtoswitch from an 808/901 with unprotected cell?

I got a couple of autoswitches that work from my first eciggs. but the batteries in these are dead so iam wondering seeing as the cells in the 808/901 are unprotected is there a big risk with just using the switch with a larger still unprotected cell, like a 18650 ffor example.

and yes i have read the battery threads and havent found anything about using exisitng circuitry with safety features like the autoswitches or ego pcbs in there.

I used to sell a 901 kit back when i was a vendor that didnt have an automatic cutoff and people loved them.Not sure if that helps or not.

I would be a seriously leary about putting something as big as an 18650 battery next to my face without any form of mechanical protection though. Even with a wooden mod if the battery were to explode it should hopefully contain much of the damage inside it and of course modern mods have vent holes to let gases escape.

Was it automatic? i have done a mod with dead egobatts making a new enclosure and just using one of the many 18650s i have harvested from laptopbatts

Im not the person to answer these questions for you...this is something for modders with loads more experience than myself.

I can tell you that using laptop batteries with unprotected cells sounds very dangerous to me.

Th alptop battery is protected but the 18650 cells i harvested and thus removing the control board from the battery are not.
