Hello,
I got the baby beast shortly after it was hitting shelves and since then it has been pretty great. The only weird issue I have run into is that it will occasionally produce vapor so hot, it feels like I might singe the top of my mouth. However it only happens with some liquid. So I have learned just to not use certain liquid. But I am curious as to what is causing this problem.

There around 70 to 80 VG.
I suspect the problem you’re having then is the liquids are too thick to travel through the wick easily. A few drops of water (it doesn’t take much) may fix the problem. There are other vagaries regarding baby beast coil care I am unfamiliar with though such as piercing the wick with a needle that may work better. I’m just giving you what I know.

It's those darn certain liquids causing it.

That might be it. I do tend to have wicking issues when the tank overheats. Seems like the cotton cant absorb the liquid as quick as it should.

Does it happen when you are chain-vaping? It may be as simple as your tank overheating. However, since it seems to be isolated to certain liquids and if they are high VG, Bombastinator is correct that a few drops of distilled water in the tank should fix it, both by increasing wicking, but also water has a lower boiling point than VG definitely and PG (possibly, I can't remember the exact order). I've used Max VG in my tanks and have thinned, up to 10% DW (really the highest you can go without a watery anemic vape). It did make a significant difference both with temps in the tank and coil life improving. So that may be something to try. You may want to look at which liquids are working best in the tank and if they are all higher PG, it may be as simple as keeping your ratios the same.

If you are chainvaping though, with a high VG liquid, that could be the source of your problems. Most vapers have at least one setup as a backup, and if you have a backup that works for you, you may want to pull it out during "high vaping" times, so you aren't overheating your tank.

It is true, I have heard of some smok coils having wicking issues and needing judicious pokes with a pin here and there to improve juice flow through the tanks, but as a non-smok user, I'm not entirely sure which ones and would probably try the above remedies first, since it doesn't sound like you are getting "dry" or "burnt" hits which is what I would expect, just that your tank is overheating. You may want to open your airflow more too, if you can, that should cause more air to circulate within the tank and may lower temps somewhat.

Best of luck,

Anna

Here's another thing to try:

While you're taking a puff, pulse the coil on and off, while continuing to suck the whole time. Count to three. Pulse on the 1 and 3.

The result will be you're continuing to suck liquid onto the wick, and not drying out the wick by firing the coil all the way through the draw. This give the wick a chance to catch up.

Thanks Anna! I haven't been chain vaping it because it tends to run hotter. It sounds like some liquids are just a little too thick for the tank. Ill might have to try a mix with a little distilled water. I use my NRG tank more frequently now, but the baby beast is part of my daily rotation. Ill also have to try some thinner liquid and then try some thicker and see what the result is.
