My new metallic blue VV Grand came today! Sucks that I have to be at work, but at least my wife works from home, so she signed for it. Along with Baby Blue, I got my order of four AW IMR 18350 batts and an i4 Intellicharger. My wonderful wife even opened the charger, and put the batts in it for me! She is an awesome wife, and so lucky to have her. Then she did the unthinkable...she opened up the mailer from Rob! How could she do this to me! I love opening my vape mail, especially when it's a mod. In her defense, she wanted to make sure I got the right color. See, when I ordered my VV Grand, some how I ended up with a black wrinkle/metallic purple in my cart, instead of the metallic blue. Stupid me didn't check the order, and when I looked at the confirmation email the next day, low and behold, I see I'm gonna be a new owner of a black and purple VV Grand. Luckily Rob hadn't sent it out yet, and was able to make everything right as rain. It's now 2:00 pm Chicago time, my shift ends at 3:00 pm, get home by 4:00 pm, and by 4:30 pm the latest, I'll be rocking Baby Blue with unflavored nic, and some freshly charged batts, all thanks to a great wife. It's gonna be a good night! Thanks for all your guys help with choosing this beast. I'll post pics if my whole REO family together when I get home...

Yeah, she sent me the pics. While I'm at work...big tease! No peer pressure needed to buy more REOs, they are just that good. Now I've got me a VV Grand, Grand, and a mini. I'll show them when I get home. If I ever get home! The suspense is killing me!

Loving the VV so far, but having a bit of a problem. When I wrapped a 2 ohm coil using 28ga kanthal a-1, I couldn't raise the voltage higher than 3.2 volts. Any higher, and she won't fire. I've got a 2.3 ohm coil on there now, and can go all the way to 5.0 volts. Can anyone explain this to me? What's the amp cut off on the VV grand? For those of you that use a VV grand, what's the lowest ohm coil you use?

Are you sure you're not mixing up the turn it higher and lower? To turn the REOVV higher, turn the wheel to the right. To turn it down, turn to the left. If you coil is already low resistance, the lower power setting won't be enough to power it.

Yep, turning to the right to go up and left to go down. I was using one of those in line volt meters from madvapes and verified it was going up and down. It would work at lower volts, but was cutting out at anything above 3.2 volts. I was really hoping to use 2.0 ohms or lower. I like a warmer vape...

I have run a 1.8ohm on my VV Grand. It didn't allow me to increase voltage from the lowest too much before it would cut off. But I really didn't need much to get a great vape. I build coils that are 2.2-2.4 and dial in my sweet spot. I sure don't go all the way up.

Hm. I wrap 2.2ish for my VV and can go all the way up and down the dial. Can't stand it hot, though. If I build a 1.7ish, I don't get the low end but sure can go up.

Did you triple check your atty build just to make sure nothing is loose?

I'm wondering if 2 ohm with 28g is the problem. 28g usually seems to be used in the 1.3 range and lower. That's got to be a lot of wraps to get to 2 ohm. You got any 30g to try? I use 30 or 32 for the VV. about 12 wraps or so of 30 gets me just over 2 ohm.

I'm hoping Supe comes in soon. I'm sure he's got ideas. He's the master coiler and has a VV.

Yeah, I got some 30ga. Probably gonna try it once I'm done with dinner and watching True Blood. I was hoping Supe would pop in too. Wanted to hear his thoughts on this problem...

Congrats volta399 the chip will cut out if you push it past 15 watts . Roll some higher ohm coils if you want to use the full range

Thanks Robert! I thought I read that it was a 15 watt cut off. Thing is, according to ohm's law, a 2.0 ohm coil at 3.2 volts equals 5.12 watts. I think it may have something to do with the 28ga wire. I wrapped a new coil with 30ga wire at 2.2 ohms, and I can take it to 4.9 volts, and it cuts out at 5.0. Which is still odd, cause 2.2 ohms at 5.0 volts is only 11.4 watts. Could something be wrong with the VV chip?
