I haven't use a Blu before, But, I first bought a combo kit for me and the wife that had 2 titanium Joye 510's and 2 Pink Joye 510's for the wife, since then I have also bought a Ext life battery for titanium, 2 extra titanium atty's, 1 extra Pink atty, and another kit with 2 Black Joye 510's.

Within the month I'm also thinking of going and getting me a Pro-Vape... they look sooooo sweet.

I don't plan on getting caught with my pants down so to speak.

I would buy a new kit from elsewhere, turn the blu into backup.

A full riva 510 kit, with two 750 mah batteries, runs about $30 from liberty-flights or vaper-pure. Alternately a full kr808d-1 kit from vaporsetc, vapor4life, others, runs 35 -50.

The riva is best value, imo, if you are okay with a manual battery and something that looks a bit less cig-like. I like out a lot with boge 2 ohm cartomizers. The 808 has good cig form factor, and the automatic batteries available for out may be easier for someone just starting out.

Either model has good support, lots of choices at decent prices.

Would it be better to look into extra batteries from Blu or should I buy a whole new kit from another company?
I think Blu is a 510 model. If that's so, then just buy back ups from whoever has the best price. If you are determined to quit and want to make sure you don't need to turn to cigs in case of equipment failure, just buy a whole new 510 starter kit. You can usually pick one up for around $35. That's usually cheaper than buying batteries, charger, and attys separately. And that way you have the security of not having to wait 2-4 days for delivery in case something happens.

yeah, backup just means that you have enough supplies that even if something went wrong, you wouldn't have to revert back to smoking cigarettes... part of it is for the feeling of security, like flying with a net, instead of an uneasy feeling of it might die & then what... the other part of it is, that the ecig is such a good replacement that even though you have quit smoking, you really haven't, you've just switched what it is you smoke... if most have there PV's go away I think they'd have no choice but to go out & buy a pack of cigs... back up is to prevent the possibility of this really...

I have a complete Blu Cig set up and highly recommend going to an eGo set up or better yet a mod with lots of attys and e-juice. Blu Cig IMHO is one of the worse set ups for vaping. I have used the Blu Cig batts on 510 attys and they worked fine, actually the batts lastly nicely with a 510, just to let you know.

I have heard the terrible reviews on Blu Cig. You might want to check them out again, they have revised their product. I believe the 18th of this month they started using cartomizers from Johnsons Creek. I don't know what they were like but they seem fine now. I just got it today so I'm not sure how easy they will be to refill but as soon as I have a chance I will find out and report my findings.

For a backup, I went with entirely different batteries, charger, and adapters to fit any atty / carto to any of my batteries, or PVs, or PT. This way if there is a catastrophic failure (dog used charger for a chew toy, charger goes bad and takes all my batteries with it, etc....) I have a true backup system. Any backup worth the name needs to have a backup for each vulnerable sub-section, power source (battery or PT), actual PV (mod or ego, etc), atty or carto, and plenty of juice. IMHO

I use a PV-1 for my mail vape, ego system backup, 510-system back/backup, pass-thru, back/back/backup, with adapters to fit any combination of power to juice, chargers and backup chargers. I will never smoke an analog for want of a good vape.
