Follow up review:

BB sent me out a replacement 555, which I have let steep for a couple days (I have the original one as well for comparison). The replacement 555 is entirely different than the original. It's flavorful, has a great nutty flavor, a bit of analog flavor... it's FANTASTIC. I tried the original 555 again and it's even worse. Downright horrible. I've come to the conclusion the first 555 was a bad mix. I definitely support 555 after trying the newly shipped one though.

And while I'm on the topic... BB has EXCELLENT customer service. The owner saw this thread and contacted me within a few hours of making it offering to ship me out a free replacement 555. I've agreed to mail back my original 555 (which I'll do after the Holidays) so he can test it and see what the problem was. I highly recommend Backwoods Brew!!!

Also, as I said earlier in the thread, I added some Tasty Vapor Sucralose based sweetener- I added 16 drops to 15ml of BB Applewood and let it steep for about a week. WOWZAS. I thought Applewood was excellent before, this take it to another level. It's like a sweet and smokey granny smith apple. Really unique. I've been vaping all day with a huge smile on my face.

My dad just started vaping and I ordered him some tobacco flavors from BWB. Being a huge BMV fangurl, myself, I haven't ventured out much with various juice vendors, so this was a first time order from Don at Backwoods. I will be a repeat customer. I ordered my dad Maxboro, Applewood, Maple and Hunter's Blend. The maple is very tasty, but after sampling all four flavors I must say the Applewood blows the rest out of the water. It's simply divine. That crisp Granny Smith apple flavor and the mellow tobacco on the exhale. Ahhhh, it's good stuff. My dad wants a larger bottle and I kinda want one for myself now as well.

I had very similar exp. I have had a few flavors from backwoods they were[in the order of my favorite first]
1-Applewood Tobacco
2-Expresso-not sweet or creamy just a great coffee flavor
3-Cherry Tobacco-not too sweet or too much cherry just enough to leave room for the tobacco
4-Honey Flue- just an ever so slightly sweet tobacco a little lite on flavor for me
5-Maxboro-Just plain kind of bland to me
6-Blueberry- way overbearing blueberry fake sweet flavor for me.Maybe if cut with menthol it would be vapeable
7-555-unexplainable and unvapable gave the entire bottle away at a vapemeet to be grouped up with other juices to be raffled off in a giveaway. I was really bummed I have liked most of his other juices, and I also bought a large bottle. I hope it wasn't a bad batch because whoever gets it may get a bad idea of Dons juices. I had never tried 555 before so I thought I just didn't like it. A few other people that sampled it didn't like it either. I still may be able to get it out of the gift Basket I think it is being given away at this months NYC meetup Jan.8

Remember these are only my opinions and everyone is different. I gotta say though I think anyone can find one of Dons juices if not many to be right up there with their top vapes.

I ordered 555 from Don, Have never ordered 555 from anyone else before so I can't compare but to me it's middle of the road as far as what else I got in my order. I do agree with everyone's remarks about Don and his customer service, great guy and I guess you have to come to expect that every once in awhile you may get a bad bottle of a flavor especially from a smaller vendor whos making it himself. There's something personal for me in ordering from a smaller mom and pop business and I like it. I think for the most part Don't juices blow everyone elses out of the water and I will continue to order through him.

everybody just raves about bwb juice. I ordered 5 flavors and I just don't see it. They hardly have any flavor. The applewood could realy be good if it had a little more flavor. But the malty is what I really wanted to try. It has sat for almost a month now and still has no flavor. None. Its like I'm vaping unflavored liquid. I vape for flavor. Whats going on with this stuff.:(

I agree with your Maxboro assessment...I think thats what I like about it. It tastes like nothing really so it goves me more of an analog experience than any other juice Ive tried.

Addionally, the Malty Toffee has gotten better and better the deeper I get into the bottle. Hehe. Same with the applewood.

I really think BWB needs a longer steeping time than other juices Ive purchased.

They hardly have any flavor.
Yeah, you're basically right... but...
2 things...
Many of us appreciate liquid that isn't over-flavored... it's not snack time for me when I vape - It's smoking replacement, not mealtime... - Subtle is good... and if you read the reviews and raves before you ordered, you could probably have saved yourself some cash - I go out of my way to tell newbies that... if you want heavy flavor, try Mrs. T's, Tasty Vapor, Vaporbomb - lots of GREAT vendors like the ones I just mentioned who truly pack flavor into every drag... you won't be disappointed.
and...
What I think truly makes the juice "good" is the performance... Many people who have been vaping a while, find the "sweet spot" they are looking for with TH, Vapor and vapability.

It's all subjective... but once you profile your own needs, hooking up with a vendor who matches that profile is the easy part.

There is really no single vendor out there for everyone...

I think this just goes to prove to us all how individual taste can be. To my tastebuds there is flavor a-plenty with BWB juices. They are not as strong as some of the vendors LastTango pointed out (particulary Ms Ts, a vendor I happen to like quite a bit) but the subtle complexity of his juices is one of the attractions. BWB juices seem to take longer to steep than a lot of the other vendors I have dealt with. Malty Toffee was an extremely light flavor right out of the mailbox. Somewhere around the 10 day or 2 week mark it really started coming alive for me.

As mentioned there is not going to be one single juice vendor to rule them all. Ask 20 vapers what they're favorite juice is and there is a real good chance you'll 20 different answers from 7-10 or more vendors.

When I said flavor I just ment to taste it. I don't even like candy. But this malty does not have a flavor at all. Nothing. And I think we all like flavor or we would just buy unflavored liquid and vape it. Come on now all I hear is everybody talking about the flavor of this juice. What color is malty anyway. I should have a little flavor after a month.

Yeah almost a year ago I thought I wanted tons of flavor and ordered a buttload of Mrs T's. Amazing amazing flavor..... but.... I couldn't vape them. It was then that I realized there was such a thing as too much. Finding the perfect balance of flavor, throat hit and vapor is a personal quest. Tonight I plan on adding BWB to my list, starting with Applewood, Casablanca, Menthol & Cherry Tobacco.

Shouldn't it taste like malt.

i get mostly malt on the inhale and a nice balance of the two on the exhale using an ego (usually on a LR306 atty, occasionally a LR510). Haven't tried it yet in my REO. remember taste is subjective and many variables, such as gear come in to play. Thats one reason juice reviewing is a real tricky business.

Tango I'm not a newbie. There is just no taste at all. I'ts not subtle it has no taste. Don won't reply to my e-mail. So I guess i'm just stuck with it and just going to toss it. By the way I like the applewood and honey flue. Will order again. Also I don't like the sweet juice. Just would like to taste it.

Don has been dealing with a medical emergency & death of a close family member. He won't be back for another week. He has more to deal with than juice right now. Thanks for understanding.

I can attest to bwb's Applewood, it is by far the BEST juice I've todate tried. The only juice I could vape allday.

Everyone's taste buds are clearly different. I personally love the 555.... I really don't read too many reviews on liquid because opinions (as they should) vary drastically. I just order small amounts and when I like one or several flavors, I order them in larger quantities. Happy Vaping All!!!
