After reading all of the glowing reviews of this stuff I ordered some last week. It came in yesterday so I immediately shook it up and filled a brand new carto as I was excited to vape it. The flavor is very musky, it tastes like someone added cheap cologne to the PG/VG and called it applewood. I don't know if this is because it needs to age, if I got a defective batch, or this is just how it is supposed to taste but I could not vape it. I ended up soaking my carto to clean it out and went back to my chinese liquid. The rest of the night I kept smelling/tasting the cologne flavor of the applewood backwoods brew which made me want to gag.

My co-worker ordered a bottle as well and he wasn't a fan either. We both got ours in the same shipment so again, maybe a bad batch?

I also ordered the maxboro and some honey flue nut that I have not tried yet. I'm hoping these are better.

Anyone else have this experience with this juice? I really thought this would be my new primary vape but I guess not.

A lot of chem-tasting complaints. From all vendors.

I'm beginning to think these complaints are related to the weather. It's HOT in the trucks that bring us our juice. It's HOT in most of our mailboxes where the juice sits for hours waiting on us to get home. This heat may cause the chemicals to rattle around some. I would try this if I had a nasty batch.

Pop the dropper lid out and let the bottle breathe for an hour or so. Maybe give it a stir with a clean toothpick. Refrigerate for a short period of time and then try it again.

I've had a similar experience. I vaped the stuff immediately after i received it. All of his juices had a strange chemically taste to them. I just revisited the juices today..about a week later...and they are definitely much better. Jury is still out for me. But i will say they are tasting better now than when I first got them. In fact, i spent most of the day today with his cappuccino...and I'm enjoying it. Gonna give it some more time, but i def think you need to let them sit about a week.

It's not subtle at all, it's overwhelming like someone put equal parts High Karate and PG. Very strange.

LOL!! The last bottle of Applewood Tobacco is too mild. Going to order again but i'll ask him to double up the flavor. However, i did ask him to go heavy on the VG.

It's strange, i've tried a bunch of flavors that others have recommended and i don't like any of them (at the moment). Going to revisit these juices in a few weeks/months and if i still can't vape them, then it's PIF time.

I am vaping the Applewood right now...and I really like it. Got it a few days ago, so I think we are probably sharing the same batch. I do recall that the first few vapes were not that good...just sort of an "off" flavor. Something that I experience often when trying new juices. But then it just got better and better and I will definitely order more. I do think their is something to the "aging" theory as it tasted better to me as it "warmed up" (the heat basically curing). I also would recommend giving it a couple of weeks to see how it progresses. I live in Hawaii so it takes longer to get here, maybe thats mine was better on arrival. As for heat ruining it, I'm not so sure. Certainly nothing much warmer than a day or two in a Hawaiian mailbox! Also keep in mind that "taste" is a very subjective thing and everyone has different experiences with them. My husband and I rarely agree on the same flavor, and we have decidedly different liquid stashes. Thats why reviews aren't necessarily helpful for juices. I think you have to just keep trying them and deciding for yourself. For the most part, its a trial and error process that you just have to go thru.

Don's juice has a unique tobacco taste. I haven't spoken with Don about it, but i believe he has his own extraction method. I do know that Don creates the juice an tests it on a lr 510. so that being said, that's how his juice tastes best. I really enjoy the applewood and cherry tobacco on either a lr 510 atty or a lr 901 atty. i found it doesn't taste as good in a carto unless it's a lr carto. I haven't had the opportunity to try the E2 cartos.

Beautifully stated and oh, so true! I have written a few reviews and added positive input to a few review. And I've often read positive reviews of juices that I do not like. It truly is up to the individual when it comes to flavor and taste preferences.

I think IMWYlde may be onto something here, as its exactly what i did when i got my juice out of the mailbox, it was unvapable to me then, but i love it now.
Give it some time, this was my experience with BWB, posted yesterday

Backwoods Brew needs time for flavors to shine
I'm pretty new to vaping (2 months now), ive ordered from Good Prophets, Mad Vapes, Rocky Mountain Vapor, Johnson Creek, Dekang, (Health Cabin) ZigCigs, Awesome Vapor, as well as some local stuff (prob dekang again).
My most recent foray was with Backwoods Brew, I had only read great things about them.
I promptly ordered Honey Flue Cured, Applewood Tobacco, Green Apple and Hunters Blend.
My initial response was well.. i guess it was --hmmmmm--, it was strong and i did order 24mg. The tobacco tincture is very unique compared to all the others ive tried, and to be quite honest, at first i didnt like it. So, what to do now? as you could imagine i was a little deflated with the hope of a new vape with such glowing reviews, only to find out its just more of the same. WELL...I WAS WRONG, -- After letting this juice sit for about a week, i went back to it, and VOILA, it is FANTASTIC!!! I dont know why it needs this "sit time" before the flavors jump out at you, but they certainly do! -- I had read this in the forum somwhere, that because the nic tincture and flavors are as fresh as can be obtained that it needs a few days "steep time", well, that is absolutely true in my experience. BWB has become my all around go to vape and it seems only to get better and better, I give it a 5 out of 5 for flavor and a 6 out of 5 for --UNIQUENESS !!! right on BWB!

Yeah, Don does make his own absolute... it's super... he also has another "newer" extraction method that is in a few of the juices... and lastly, he utilizes a third way of creating tobacco flavors by having them custom designed by someone REALLY good... The bulk of his tobacco juices have his own absolute.

That's one of the main reasons I find Backwoods so special... Don is a bit of a flavor/taste artist... a perfectionist. There are a few different distinct undertones in his juices...

Having 6 different BWB juices is like having juices from 3-6 different vendors... the flavors are from so many different sources.

.......about flavors... and I am not an expert or an affiliate... but through talking to Don in "customer service" related situations I have learned that some of his flavors are pretty expensive. Some of his flavors rival or even beat the cost of his nic... for example... one of the flavors in applewood... one of the RY4 Flavors (the one that makes the juice amazing) and one of the flavors in his Honey Flu Nut are very expensive and not always easy to get the second he needs them.

Rarely do I ask Don for more flavor... twice and it was unnecessary both times because a week or two of time intensified the flavor beyond what I expected.

The BWB juices are great right out of the mailbox! Just make sure you let them last long enough to age. Three weeks later, you will probably notice a slight change in flavor - for me it was a moderate increase in flavor and very slight increase in TH.
