I recently ordered a 30ml bottle of oba oba concentrate.

I mixed up a 30ml bottle

The problem I am having is that the juice tastes like soap.

I've had oba oba before and it is one of my all day vapes... But I can not vape this at all...

Not sure but I think I might have gotten a bad batch of oba oba... it smells great looks great but tastes like soap...

which means I just wasted 15ml of nic juice...

We've only had 1 batch of Oba Oba in and have not heard about any problems. I wonder if anyone else has tried the Oba Oba and can comment.

What percent are you using?

When I get to the warehouse I will try it. I have never personally tried it, but we've sold most if not all of that batch without any reports of a soap taste. The only time I have heard of problems with FA is if it is used in high percentage.

We will ask FA about any complaints on the Oba Oba. If it was bad we will get it taken care of.

Using the 10% bottle I cut that down to 5% and still has a soapy taste to it.

my method of cutting down to 5$ was simply just taking a 10ml bottle and adding 5ml of juice to it and filling the rest with pg. It took the nic mg down to 15 mg but also lowered the flavor to 5% if my basic math is correct?

It looks more like the other oba oba i've had made up for me but still has a soapy taste to it...

the best way I can describe the taste is... (unless as a child you were ever made to eat soap then you know exactly what i mean) The way hand soap smells. =/

I tested my nic and pg with another juice and it did not yield the same flavor so far...

But the soapy taste isn't as bad as it was at 20% or the 10% but it over powers the rest of the flavors

FA is really concentrated, I've never gone beyond 9-10% and that's the fruit flavors. You might take just 3ml of PG and add ObaOba to at 3 or 5% to see how that tastes. I tried to just double the liquid before to lessen the flavor percentage but that doesn't always seem to work as you think it would, it's better just to start with a new batch. If you have any Vape Wizard, that will oftentimes wash out the flavor but you have to use that very sparingly.

I had someone else try it at 15% and they could not taste soap. All I know is that we do not dilute flavorings. What we carry is exactly what flavourart sells. It is very difficult to predict what one will taste as this topic is so subjective.

At 5% the flavor is better. Going to let it steep and see what happens.

The odd thing is, the bottle I had another member mix for me was 10%. but when I made a 10$ bottle it still tasted off...

I think I mixed this at 10 if not 15% before and have had no problems. It gets quite pink over time and is pretty yummy right after mixing IMO. I was planning on doing some tests with triacetin to dilute VG and was going to use Oba Oba, because of that color change, in order to gauge diffusion.

Not really on topic but I think I solved what Oba Oba is. If you google the name it is some Brazilian term maybe. Anyhow it seems like from my flavor research it is probably flavoring from copaiba, similar in name and from Brazil. If you google copaiba though you will get the impression that it is some sort of shellac or something, so the off taste you are perceiving makes sense.

Maybe you are extra-sensitive to whatever molecule in the aroma. Stuff like that happens. Not always but in general, Asian people are more sensitive to alcohol as a similar example.

Hope you let us know. Just today I received a small bottle of FlavorArt Concentrated Oba Oba flavoring from another supplier. I've never tried it before. I really don't even know what Oba Oba is...ordered it because I'm collecting small amounts of different flavors to see what I like (and I like to say "Oba Oba"). After reading this thread I opened the bottle to take a whiff. To me it smells vanilla-ish. Like a sweet-smelling vanilla candle maybe?? Haven't mixed it yet but is vanilla a general idea of what it should taste like?

Oh and FlavorArt is very concentrated. I prefer my juices highly flavored and I've never had to use more than 10%. Not with FA's anyway. Good luck.

FA might be generally strong, but there are exceptions. I would say that OO is one of the weaker ones, at least a few drops isn't going to overpower you and it is good 10-15.

Oba Oba is hard to describe. I have some technical books on flavoring chemicals and Copaiba is described as "characteristic". Things that are unique like violet flavor get that tag. I get that bit of vanilla at times, sometimes it is caramelly, sometimes fruity. I haven't really messed with it much yet and can't decide what I would even mix it with.

I have to agree with the way Oba Oba normally tastes. it seems to change flavors as you use it. what i seem to notice is vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, fruity, caramel, a slight hint of tobacco. this could just be me though. it might be simpler than that

Hey zadane! How did you make out with lowering and steeping? I tried some of what I got yesterday. Started with a pre-mix of 70pg-30vg @30mg nic. and per Aprioristic, approx 15% Oba Oba. I can't really comment yet on the flavor itself but the mixture I made wasn't unpleasant and didn't taste like soap to me. Remember though, different vendor... just wanted to try it out for you out of curiosity. I hope someone will post here if they've experienced the same as you. Might not be the most popular of flavors but I've read some say that Oba Oba was their "go-to" vape.

Thank you Aprioristic. I'd be interested to read your posts about flavor...looks like you've done some research. I have a large collection of 5mg bottles of FA. Some common i.e. vanilla, chocolate, maple...and some uncommon i.e. oba oba, oak, zen garden. I'd like to do some experimenting and come up with something unique and tasty. I've done a few mixes and so far the results have been...well, :p

I'm now using 10% flavoring 25mg 70/30ish

after letting it steep for a few days, the flavor is better no where near as "soapy" but I feel it will be just right in another day or two.

but my bottle of 20% is still pretty dang soapy.

I just want it to taste like all the other oba oba i've had. I loved it. it was my favorite lol.
