I resently purchased a smoke tech bolt with two trustfire 18650 2000mah batteries. I charged the batteries, installed one in the bolt and it vaped fine for about 2 hours then nothing. I tried the second battery and got very little vapor out of it, tiny puffs of smoke, recgarged the batteries and same results, very little snoke. E-mailed the vender, sent the bolt back and recieved a new one. This one vapes better but it's kinda pathetic. getting more vapor but not like I should get from this mod or this size batteries. The batteries seem to die pretty fast as well. Feel like chucking all three in the waste basket and going back to tabacco cigs. Is there any way to test the mod or batteries with out buying some kinda of electronic device? And yes the Kanger carts and ce2 carts work, use them on my 510 bypass just fine.

Yes the bypass has a little 360 mah battery. the Kanger carts are standard, 2.7 I think, and the ce2's 2.4, sometimes the bolt will fire them and sometimes it won't. When it does it's not that good. Thinking I should have bought the more expensive blue batteries instead of the cheaper white trustfires. I think the blue ones where 2200mah. Maybe a trip to radio shack tomorrow, and hope they carry these li ion batteries. thanks for the welcome, nice forum, a bit big and hard to navagate, should get easier with time.

Radio Shack does NOT carry the right type of rechargeable batteries to use with a PV.
The wrong battery type is what can cause them to explode !!!! :danger::danger:

Hi and welcome!

The first thing we have to do is to separate vapor production and "hit" from the size of the battery. The physical size of the battery has noting to do with the vapor production and/or "hit" you will feel. The only difference it will make is in the amount of time it can deliver power. 2000 mah should last even the heaviest vaper about 6-7 hours.

You mentioned something about a bypass. Is that 5v? If it is (and as Stosh mentioned) there will be an immense difference in vapor and hit. Do you know the resistance of the cartos you are using? If they are 3Ω or higher, they will perform well with 5v but not so much at 3.7v.

Unless you have a point of reference, you will need equipment. For example, if you have 2 identical batteries and one last 8 hours while the other lasts 3, then you know there's an issue.

So far, the only thing that's a bit "fishy" is that these batteries are lasting only 2 hours.

EDIT: Just posted and it took me back to the thread. I saw you mentioned buying batteries at Radio Shack. As Stosh already warned, DO NOT DO THAT Using the wrong batteries may have very dangerous consequences.

Yes, find the correct batteries and make sure your charger is charging them properly.

With the battery issue out of the way, we look at vapor production and "hit" The 1.7ohm cartos are very popular at 3.7v because they get warmer and create more vapor and "hit". It will feel closer to a higher voltage device.

Be patient! It can only get better from here!

All the best!

If the bypass is very small "like a AAA battery." it's likely it is 5 volts...:).. It's just a switch and an empty tube to provide the voltage from the USB connector to your carto. That said if your bolt has room for an 18650, these batteries will work and provide an extra hit with higher voltage, to use with the same cartos. (I own 3 myself)

I had no idea the bypass was 5v, seems my cheapest device is my best. Thanks for your input guys, I've learened so much in the last couple of days. I was about to throw out a 801 lr atty I have because when I used it on the bypass it worked good but left this really bad rank burnt taste in the back of my throat. Today I tried it on the bolt and to my surprise it worked great, lots of vapor and no rank burnt taste. That is the only thing the bolt will fire effectively. The kanger cartos I don't know the ohms all it said was horizontal coil, it wont fire them. The ce2's are 2.4 and it will fire them but weak vapor and flavor. I got some dual coil cartos also at 2.4 and it wont fire them at all and batteries are dead after trying to fire them. Now I also have this little box mod i got for only 20 bucks, 3.7 volts, uses one 14500 battery and it will fire all the carts stated above with great amounts of vapor, flavor and throat hit. I just don't understand why little box is awesome and the bolt sucks, both are 3.7 v when, I buy supplies at the end of the month I'll get some better batteries for the bolt and give another chance.
