Bad burning taste.

I have a lotus e cig and JUST bought a KangerTech T3S tank. I have two other tanks that came with it. It worked wonderfully for a month or so. Then a burning taste started to come about so I changed the atomizer as that is what I was told to do to fix this. So I just bought this tank and a brand new atomizer and put in a Razberry flavor in the tank. I had used Razberry before and it tasted great. Now, with any tank I use, all I get is a burnt taste. It is very annoying and if I cant fix it at home, ill go to the vap store and see whats going on.

Any tips? Im new to vaping and ecigs so I dont know a lot about this stuff.

Hi TheGrose and welcome to ECF. Sorry that you are getting a burnt taste with your juice and clearo (Kanger T3S). The suggestion to wash your clearos in hot water is a good one. Sometimes new clearos have some machining residue on them, so washing prior to using them the first time is a good idea. It could also be a dry hit where there is not enough juice wicking to the coil, so what you are tasting is not the juice, but the dry coil. I would really try cleaning the clearo and coil first. If that doesn't do it and it is giving you dry hits, then removing one flavor wick can sometimes help. I have not had to do that on any of the MT3S clearos that I use, but have heard that suggestion from others, especially if it is a thick juice with a higher PG ratio.

Hope this helps, but if not, there are other more experience folks here who may have better suggestions. Just don't let this bad experience lead you back to analogs. I wish you luck and hope you find the solution. Keep the vape and namaste.

It will have nothing to do with the battery post.

The wicks are very short, they won't be draping down like top coil clearomizers. You have a bottom coil clearomizer. Take the base off and the 'head' that houses the coil will be attached to it. Google/youtube kanger t3s and learn more about it.

Is it safe to get the atomizer wet? Unclear on this part. I washed the tank and took the atomizer out of its holding part and washed that part but is it ok for me to wash the atomizer? Ive seen yes and no on this.

YES. The atomizer is supposed to get wet.

If the atomizer is dry when you try to use it, you will likely get a burnt taste.

I put mine to soak in hot water;
some people drop theirs in a cup of water and boil in the microwave for a few minutes.

This video probably shows more than you want to know right now buy you might appreciate how the atomizer works by seeing how it is made up

Yikes! Don't put the atomizer head in the microwave. Heat the cup of water in the microwave and remove it, then put the head in to soak. No metal in the microwave please. Bad things will happen.

I do it often--just make sure the coils are fully submerged under water. ;) Then it's safe to nuke them for a few minutes. I use distilled water. Then shake the water out or briefly soak in PGA or vodka to complete the cleaning process--alcohol will evaporate quickly.

That said, soaking coils and wicks in water is not the best idea as water vaporizes at different temperature than PV and VG. In order to prime, or moisten, a coil, please use PG or VG--not water.

If you're getting a burnt taste, it means that your coil--for some reason--isn't being supplied with eliquid fast enough. Check all the connections inside the clearo, make sure tha new coil is screwed in tight and snug and then, when you screw the clearomizer onto the battery--do no over tighten. They should just make contact. If you screw it on too tight, you may depress the center pin which in turn might lead to all kinds of problems, including poor wicking and leaking. Then just take a couple of gentle 'primer' puffs without activating your battery--that will help force the eliquid into the atomizing chamber.

Good luck.

IMO good advice so far with the t3s, but I noticed you said suddenly with any tank you use you're getting a burnt taste. If that's true the t3s wouldn't be your culprit. You also said you've used this flavor before. Is this the same flavor from the same bottle or maybe same flavor from a different bottle. Perhaps your liquid was a bad batch is my point. I'm not familiar with lotus but if it has a variable setting maybe it's adjusted to high?

Propylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
PG: Propylene glycol:
Boiling point 188.2 °C; 370.8 °F; 461.3 K
(ok that surprised me: I expected PG to have a boiling point below that of water 100 degrees C)

Glycerol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
VG: 'Vegetable Glycerin':
Boiling point 290 °C; 554 °F; 563 K ([2])

Ethanol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ethanol:
Boiling point 78.37 °C; 173.07 °F; 351.52 K

First, let's look at a couple of easy fixes…has the voltage increased either by an accidental adjustment of the battery or a head of different resistance?

One thing that I have happen on one of my tanks is that is will occasionally create a vacuum that creates the burnt taste. Imply removing the lid is a quick fix…it vapor is pretty dense and escapes from both the top and draw hole, that might be your problem. It should taste good right after the vacuum has been released. In some cases, it comes back rather quickly. At that point I start fidgeting. Sometimes I loosen the head just a bit, or tighten it…same with the tank along its threading and even the batter connection.

Good luck on it…I don't hear this mentioned a lot but it is something that has come up for me.
