So I thought it was time to clean the atty, so I popped a new one into the base, added a drop on each side of the plate, and one onto the spike. Put a new tank on and tried it out. Dry hits... Yuck. Right from start - went through about half a tank and still didn't go away. Took the tank off and looked at the atty. On the "good" one I was using, the stainless wick goes pretty much right down to the tip of the spike. On the "bad" one, the stainless wick is up where the spike starts to bevel. Is this the most likely cause?

Thanks in advance!

Two things -

1. Was the spike hole on the tank pre-punched or did the hole have to be made by the spike when you insert the tank? If it wasn't pre-punched, take the cap off the tank and remove the little hanging chad that gets made when the spike punches through the cap. The chad can block the flow of juice to the addy, resulting in dry hits.

2. Here's a short video that explains about the wick position and how to easily adjust it. Usually the right place for the wick is where you describe on the "bad" atty (which is why I suspect you've actually got a hanging chad problem, not a wick problem :).

Hope this helps.

Hi dhdonline! There is another possibility. My husband had the dry hit issue with the ego c and found that it had what he describes as air lock. Once he tapped on the tank a few times he saw a few air bubbles come up and air at the top of the tank indicating the juice had gone to the wick. No more dry hits.

Thanks for the reply! I will try that when I pop a tank back on to that atty. I think it will be put to the side for now. What kind of lifespan do you usually see out of yours?

I did the ego c upgrade and its just a pain in the ...., every one of the 5 + 2 with the cones give dry hits, flood, or vapor but no flavor. I have done surgery on them all readjusting the wick and have solved everything except the flooding. I will stick with the ce4's, they are as cheap as the c atty heads and i don't have to jick with them.

Now that I've tried other things don't think I will go back to the c's. I agree they are a pain! So far my lr stardusts are kicking ...., vision grande is ok, and smoktech dual coil cartos in 4ml tank are good too.
