After 4 years of vaping the only time I have a cigarette is when I'm out and all my batteries die and I'm stranded at someone's house with everyone in the room lighting up every 5 minutes. & if you haven't had one in 2-3 weeks or more, they taste disgusting. Especially if they aren't mentholated. and the gross flavor lasts for an hour. Be a good girl. Lung cancer kills more people than all US illegal drug overdoses combined annually.

I haven't smoked in about 6 months and have been doing fine. Didn't even miss them.
Suddenly out of nowhere, I started wanting a cigarette about 4-5 days ago. I notice every time my wife lights up and even dreamed about smoking 3 night in a row.
I woke up yesterday and decided I WAS going to have a cigarette. I kept putting it off to make sure I wouldn't change my mind.
I decided to try one more thing before smoking. I mixed up some 36mg unflavored (I usually use 18mg tobacco flavored). It did the trick and I no longer wanted a smoke.
I don't know why I was wanting one so bad. I don't have a nic test kit, but I'm pretty meticulous with my mixing and the liquid is still clear.
The only thing I can figure is that my last batch was the largest I've ever made and the flavor has faded with time.
The 36mg unflavored had more flavor than the older flavored stuff.
Still using the 36mg today, but I'm going to try to go back to the 18mg later with some fresh mix. Hope that it's just the flavor because I want to cut down on my nic usage not double it.

Was craving an analog after about almost a month of being analog-free. So I gave in and just had one "just this once.." Talk about GROSS! It felt like I was licking an ashtray. And made me get nic sick so fast. I definitely won't be having them as often as I was afraid I would. Did feel a slight relief craving wise though. But in all reality... Yuck!

Go to your room. :)

The Correct Response here is "Bad Girl!! Go To My Room!!

This has been the case for me exactly. Lighting up after a week with the gum was transcendent. I figured it would be the same after a few days of vaping. NOPE

Yes, transcendent is the perfect word for that feeling. I haven't had a cig in over two years and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be transcendent.

best lessons learned are the mistakes we make ourselves. let that nasty taste and smell remind you every time you think about an analog. i fell off the wagon once or twice when i ran out of supplies while working. (i work in the oilfield so sometimes i'm 100 miles away from the closest vape shop) so now the kit i carry with me is way overkill so i never run out of anything.

I had a dream that I had an analog last week. I woke up so disappointed but then realized i hadn't

Thank heavens for that!
Two nights in a row I've dreamt that I smoked and found myself relieved when I realised I hadn't.
After 7 months though it made me uneasy, the last thing I want is to go back and I won't.

I think a big part of why nicotine gum, lozenges, and especially patches, tend not to work is because how fast nicotine gets absorbed when inhaled.

Inhaling or smoking any drug is the fastest way into the brain. Even intravenous delivery is slower than inhaling or smoking. And addiction is much more strongly enforced when the drug reaches the brain faster. It's why many people who get addicted to pain pills manage to keep their addiction (somewhat) in check until they resort to snorting or injecting, when things tend to very quickly spiral way out of control.

Nicotine is absorbed much more slowly via the sublingual route (gum and lozenges), and extremely slow via the transdermal route (patches). So smoking a cigarette after being on traditional nicotine replacement gives the instant gratification that you were no longer getting.

This is also why vaping tends to work much better -- not only are you getting the psychological "fix" from actually inhaling something, the nicotine is absorbed just as fast as with cigarettes.

You'd think so, but we've had this discussion a million times here on ECF and we've done a lot of research. A minute amount of nicotine is absorbed through the lungs with vaping. Vaping is considered oral administration believe it or not. & our nicotine is not in it's freebase form like in cigarettes. Our nicotine is absorbed very slowly over a long amount of time and not as efficiently as with smoke.
