"Bad" Juice?

I decided to try liquid from a different vendor to try to get a better perspective of what the marketplace has to offer as part of the process of finding the one(s) I like and that work best. The flavors I use most are Vanilla, Chocolate, Coffee, and Strawberry.

I'm pretty conservative when it comes to liquid given that this is the stuff I actually inhale into my body. So, as much as is yet possible in the "wild west" kind of marketplace that exists, I've pretty-much limited myself to ordering from vendors that appear to be relatively well-established and frequently-discussed by others on the forum.

I ordered extra high strength bottles of my favorite flavors from a different vendor. I've only tried two so far, but rather than tasting of their individual flavors each has a very bitter, acrid taste and an aftertaste that I can only describe as not being unlike the taste and smell that's left behind after drinking a shot of strong liquor, but with sort a "chemical" property to it.

I checked the bottles to make sure they were clearly marked, and the at least appeared to be similar in color to what one might expect for each flavor. I also retried each with different vaping rigs with fresh cartridges and atomizers and experienced the same results. They were safety sealed, and I have no reason to believe that they were otherwise compromised in any way.

Has anyone experienced something similar? I don't want to post the vendor's name in case this happens to be some sort of anomaly, as they seem to be generally very well-respected. When I contacted them, they explained that liquids with higher nicotine content will naturally tend to taste less of the particular flavor; and when I explained that this seemed like more of a difference than nicotine strength should account for, they said that liquid can be light and temperature sensitive and otherwise had no suggestions as to why this might have occurred. (Note: I experienced this immediately upon opening the package after it was shipped during a period of moderate weather in both locations. I also store my liquid in a climate-controlled environment).

I'm just as pleased to return to my previous vendor. I've always been very satisfied with their products, and they've at least never exhibited this kind of horrible taste; but I'm also reluctant to just ditch ~$100 in liquid and a vendor if this is just a one-off. I'd appreciate knowing if anyone else has every encountered something similar with liquid from their vendors?

Many thanks!

Could it be possible that what you are tasting is actually burnt fibers from your cart? Also inspect your atty for any loose fibres that may be stuck on the coil. If so try and remove them.
Then try removing the filler from a cart and drip a couple of drops directly on your atty. If it is the filler that is causing the acrid taste, it should dissipate after a couple of draws while dripping.

It's not attributable to the carts or the atomizers. Though I've also tried them with fresh examples of each (with priming fluid cleaned before) as a means of further eliminating cross contamination or equipment-specific causes, they've also instantly turned acrid rigs that I had been using with no previous issues (with other juices), which continues as long as I use the liquid in question, and eventually fades as I vape-through other brands. Whatever is "off" is within the liquid itself.

Thank you for your interest; any further insight would be equally valued.

I've got a refrigerator full of liquids that I don't like. I figure I'll save them for a rainy day or buy additional flavorings to turn them into something I can at least tolerate.

If it's something you just can't stand you might list it for sale in the Classified and Swaps. That way you at least re-coop your cost and you can spend it on what you do like.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion, but this is really beyond a matter of personal "taste" (so to speak); and I could/wouldn't pass along something I suspected wasn't "right".
It seems that you've done whatever tests you could to ensure that the problem is with the liquid. But even if it was just a matter of personal taste, it is still useful information. I've saved lots of money by reading user reviews and opinions of both hardware and liquids on this forum. I think the vendors on this forum have seen it all, good and bad.

Although all or at least many of the vendors may be vapers and great people and love what they are doing, ultimately they are running a business (for-profit operation). Customers/users sharing information about products and vendors is the only way we can learn about what works and what doesn't. This is especially true because we are not really buying brands that are the same regardless of the store -- a can of Pepsi is the same in all supermarkets, chocolate e-liquid is not.

If you'll write that xy liquid from xy wendor tastes bitter and acrid to you, you are not going to hurt the vendor's feelings.

out of about 30 bottles of various flavours from various suppliers i've only ever had 2 "bad juices" ... the first one the suppliers said send it back ... and he agreed it wasnt right .... and gave me a replacment ... the second nasty bottle i had was from a diferent supplier and when i e mailed them about it i baisically got told "tough" .... i wouldnt of minded but it ruined an atomiser with its foul taste ...i told them there was something in it that shuolnt be .. they told me to swap it in their "swaps " section on their forum ... i binned it so that no one else would loose an atomiser to it

One thing I've learned. If you try out a liquid, then another one, brush your teeth in between. Especially too, if you get that burnt taste, and have changed everything, brush your teeth. You'd be surprised how much taste stays in your mouth. One night I walked around thinking all my equipment tasted burnt!
