So my story begins last Tues when I received my shiny new 510 kit.The following 4 days were filled with carefree vaping and I was loving it.The more I read about the steep learning curve and the troubles that newbies go through, I started wondering if I was doing something wrong because I wasn't having those troubles. Then last night my first atty crapped out on me (seemed like the bridge wasn't heating up) so I decided it was time to try out the cleaning methods I'd read up on.After cleaning them both thoroughly (too thoroughly I think) neither one works so it was off to the store to buy cigs to get by until more supplies arrive. The good news-- I really, really don't enjoy smoking anymore and I will make sure I have lots of back-ups from now on.

Yup! they should have lasted more than a week :( even for a newbie. Shoot me a PM maybe I can help I am in Dartmouth.

I really appreciate the offer, but I'll have some supplies here probably on Tues. so I think I can hold out until then. When I ordered my kit,I made sure I had extra batteries and every possible way to charge them but I never thought about extra attys.

I just tried them both again with a fresh battery and cart and still no good. One of them seemed to work Ok for a minute but then back to the horrible burnt taste.I guess I'll just consider it lesson learned. Thanks to everybody for the help and especially Rachelcoffe for the info she sent me regarding cartomizers.I'm going to try those out next.

Sounds like you did a dry burn and burned the wick. Use a tooth ouch and tweasers to remove the fibres and it should work well enough to use until you get some new ones.

This is a good example of what can go wrong with too much information about cleaning atties for newbies... In the year and a half I have been vaping I have only done a dry burn ONCE.

My cleaning regimen consists of occasionally blowing out the atty, vaping a cart with unflavoured juice on seasoned atties, and once in a blue moon an alcohol soak if absolutely necessary. I've had atties that have lasted a year (my first 401 atty still works, I bet) IMHO because I do NOT overclean them.

If you're getting a horrible burned taste - it's a good indication that the atomizer has burned. I've never found a way to successfully remove the burned taste (at least any longer than an hour at a time) with 510 atty's.

If it stopped working before the burned taste - it may have been a dud - worthwhile to contact the company that sold it to you - let them know what happened.

To prevent burning in the future - add a couple drops of liquid directly onto bridge of the atomizer - every couple hours. This keeps it moist and prevents burning.

I condition my atty's once a week with about 4 drops of straight VG onto the bridge and then puff away directly from the atomizer (drip style) for a few minutes. The VG seems to coat the atty and keeps it moist for quite a bit longer than usual.

Actually,I purchased my kit from the fine folks at Electro-vapors lol.Honestly Kat,I believe it was my fault for not really knowing how to handle these things so I didn't bother complaining to you guys about it. I'm much better educated now though so hopefully the next ones will hold out longer.
