Hey guys, ive been rebuilding my aga t 2 for about 2 months and still cant figure out why the quality of my vape will be awesome right after the rebuild and the whole night but after i let it sit for 6-8 hours tastes bad for the rest of the day until i rewick and coil it. Ive tried dry burning then a little prodding to get the coil glowing evenly again. The rest of the day it will taste harsh. I'm using almost solid 500 mesh well oxidized. .4 ohm coil of 28 gauge kanthal a1. So far i know its not a wicking issue or a hotspot issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated

what does it taste like? there are lots of "burning" flavors that you might encounter when dealing with e-cigs.
burning the coil tastes like a hot metallic dry hit. (this is caused by the coil not making good contact with the wick)
burning the wick tastes like (silica tastes like a nasty chemical) (SS mesh tastes like silverware but not as hot as an over heated coil) (cotton tastes like burning cotton) this is caused by the coil compressing the wick and not allowing enough juice to flow into the coil area) or is just caused by poor wicking.

its important to note that the first few times you fire the coil with juice on it it creates a layer of carbon.. this layer of carbon is good it provides a nice thermal barrier between the coil and the wick. this is why at first you dont get decent hits on a new coil it takes about 10 drags to get it really broken into its sweet spot. over time the carbon will build up and evidently clog up the wick and coil. (you can see the carbon build up) then its time to dry burn or replace the coil. i recommend cleaning off the coil with a brush to remove the layer of fine ash that's left over from the dry burn. just wait until its totally cooled off and scrub the coil with a paint brush. then blow on it a few times and its good.

Thanks very much for the helpful insight. The harsh taste is definitely not a hotspot, I've encountered a good number of them in my first week or so of rebuilding. I went through a phase where i wrapped too loosely, then another phase where i wrapped too tightly. Honestly i think i made every mistake one can make when setting up these atomizers. It wasn't until the last couple weeks ive been albe to get amazing flavor and vapor production from this atomizer, i think its from getting the resistance perfect to match the rate of wicking pefect for the pg vg ratio. Then after it sits it tastes just harsh. I'm thinking the juice is gunking up on the wick and coil because i can see it visually. Ill try brushing it off next time after the dry burn. So I noticed that even after i correct the hotspots and everything glows evenly i fill up the tank and vape for a while then hold the atty vertically the top coil glows red after around 12 seconds of being fired vertically. Would that be a hotspot that should be corrected or just normal because of the top of the wick running out of juice before the middle or the bottom?

Does it do this if you have it tilted? My experience is that you have to tilt more as the juice level goes down for the wick to keep up.
