Can someone explain to me in simple language (pretend you are telling a young child and then I should get it!) what the differences are in bases. What difference does it make on ratio's, etc. I am so confused! I did get a sample sized bottle of juice that I did a half and half and it appears to be fairly thick compared to another I had ordered-which didn't give me an option to choose the base ratio.

Thanks for any help...and remember, simple, small words :p

(BTW If you really are a young child please leave)

PG - thin, lets through the most flavor, most nicotine hit, most nicotine irritation, makes thin vapor

VG - thick (too thick alone for many methods of vaping), dulls everything PG lets through, makes thicker more persistent vapor. Some vendors thin their high VG juices with as much as 20% distilled water (and I have even seen plain VG sold pre-thinned with water) so the thickness will vary but pure VG is very thick.

Most people use blends.

Different vaping methods work better with different ratios

Normal atomizer - any PG/VG as long as it flows at least as fast as you vape

Tanks atomizer and tanks, and reservoir cartos - generally like the thickness 30% VG or less, may work with some thinner 50/50's

Simple stuffing cartomizers - I get the longest good use out of these by using juices with 20% or less VG though some will use more VG than me.

Dual coil cartos (for BIG 450mah+ batteries only) - some say they can use 100% VG

There is VG and PG.

VG is thick. It you put your finger in and taste it, it's sweet. This gives you the most vapor but less throat hit. Can mute flavor
PG is thin. It gives less vapor than all VG but more throat hit. Increase flavor, but many people find it harsh by itself.

If you go to a juice vendors site, some recommend 70pg/30vg, or 80pg/20vg. Then it's not too thick and not too thin, you get flavor and it's not too harsh.

Many people change the ratios to suit their likes and dislikes. Some like all PG, some all VG. Keep in mind, the more VG the thicker it is and my clog cartos sooner.

Thanks! I will just have to play around I guess to see what I like. Still VERY new to all this. I appreciate all the help folks!

Make sure you never order big bottles unless you know you like a juice. Sample packs are the way to go to try a bunch of juices and many vendors have them. I like the vendors that let you pick your own juices for a sample pack.
Check out BlueMist Vapor. They have alot of juices, 250+ and really good prices. $5 for 10ml and $10 for 30ml. They also have 2 options for sample packs. (5) 3ml bottles for $10 or (5) 10ml bottles for $20. Id go with the 3ml bottles to start so then if you dont like a juice your not wasting a ton of money, and since there only $10 bucks, you can get a few and try a bunch of different juices. You can get all their juices in either 80%PG/20%VG or 100%VG. Id recommend getting the 80/20. It wicks much better in attys/cartos and gives good throat hit. 80/20 is a popular ratio, like Dormouse and Swedishfish were talking about above.
You can also get extra flavor shots for .50cents more and if you find a juice you really like you can get a 180ml bottle for $30, which is an awesome deal

Goodluck!

I will definitely check them out, thank you!

I had ordered two 5 ml bottles from vaporbomb the end of last week, got them today. And the one I got was mango (smells soooo yummy!) and got hubby the cowboy flavor. I couldn't wait for a new cartomizer (need to order some blanks but have to wait til payday, ugh). I added a few drops of mango into my filler that had some clove left in it. I figured it would be nasty but I am loving it! Who knew that clove and mango would mingle so well :) They also sent me a small bottle of bubble gum. It smells really good too but I am not going to mix it with clove, I promise!
