Hey, y'all...i've got another rookie question. Is it ok to leave my battery connected to the usb charger after it's fully charged? I prefer to leave it hooked up overnight. Also, is it ok to charge a battery that's not fully discharged?

One more addiction I wasn't expecting when I started this new chapter of my life-an addiction to the ECF Forum!:2cool:

Absoulutely NOT NOT NOT. These have been known to start on fire all by themselves. You should never even leave them unattended. I also have had a battery before start firing and burning by itself when the cartomizer was put on. There on pics on this forum of Passthroughs burning while unattended plugged into a computer. You can do searches and I also posted before on this.

Passthrough or charger dspin? I have never had an issue with leaving the charger adapter on with Riva/eGos. I read the OP's question as leaving the "charger" adapter hooked up. I would not leave a pssthrough with an inline batt hooked up.

This is a good site, though quite lengthy, well worth reading all articles over time. I trust no electronics even if made in the USA, they said the Titanic wouldn't sink either. Not trying to be smart alecky here, just trying to be helpful. I've seen first hand a thermal runaway. It made me a believer. It was a bigger battery, but I trust none of them

After my house fire last year, i will never leave anything ON or unattended. It's always smart to put safety first or you will live in a hotel for 6 months until your house is fixed.

(i left the fan on in the bathroom in the morning, i went to work and got a call at lunch time that my house was on fire) even though its not about pv's and charging, it's just smarter to not leave it plugged in all night or even unattended.

So sorry silentt. How awful!!!! I certainly appreciate the post/warning. I would have never thought of a bathroom fan, but now I will. Thank you!

Thats just awful, I can't even imagine. But leaving things plugged in that are on and unattended - not. Will not even do that w/a crock pot. My niece's waterbed heater started on fire while she was at work and you know the rest of the story.

i can relate to the desire to be totally safe but i also can't figure out how i would keep my batteries charged if i didn't leave them overnight. I do make sure they are away from anything flammable and try to always remember to unplug them in the morning but there are an awful lot of cell phones, laptops etc. with similar batteries that we leave plugged in. Most people i know with a laptop leave it on the charger overnight.

now i wouldn't do this with some super cheap no brand batts but for standard rechargables--8 hours on a charger unattended doesn't seem to high a standard.

Here's a good link w/pics. True, failures are rare, but I don't want it to be me. Pic of computer w/failed battery attached

i've seen the runaway batteries pix and laptop burns but i'm curious if you are aware of brand name e-cig batteries having this problem while charging. I did wreck on ecig battery ( a 410 automatic ) when i was tinkering with a saftey pin and inadvertently (dumb!) stuck it into the auto hole (and it did melt down and vent) --but back to the point--and not to discourage people from being as safe as possible but are you aware of protected name brand e-cig batteries blowing up on a charger. If so that would be very useful information to have posted in the forum and in the ECF library (which i didn't find to have a recommendation beyond using only PROTECTED batteries.)
