im using an EVO with stacked, protected AW ICR123 batteries; i have had it for about a week. i actually am using the POS charger (ok so far) it came with as i wait for my xtar WP2 II to come in the mail (hopefully on monday!) so i have been testing them with a DMM CONSTANTLY. everytime when depleted, during charging, and when fully charged. i have not had any problems so far. they have been coming off the charger around 4.12v and the EVO cuts out at around 3.12v.

weird part - yesterday when the EVO cut off, i checked it as usual before charging. one was at 3.12v like normal, the other battery however was at 3.54. when i put the batteries in, both were the same at 4.11v. i have no idea what this means??
im using a different pair today but it will probably take me all day to reach the cut off so i can check them. i wouldn't think it is because of the charger, they seemed to have charged just fine.

That's normal. When batteries are stacked or wired in series one of them (I forget which one) will discharge more than the other. Some people will switch them around after using the device a while to do something about it. Others are careful to make sure each time they load them they go in a different order. I'm lazy enough not to worry about it and load them the way I grab them. I doubt it makes a big difference but, that's just my opinion.

If you repeatedly have one battery that drops faster, no matter what you do, you probably have one battery that simply is losing its ability. It may charge up, but being "older" or more "worn out" simply won't hold as much of a charge or for as long. If you have more than one pair you should repeat the test with the other pair, and match them up accordingly. The weakest link usually fails first, taking everyone else with them.
