Batteries getting warm while charging

I have two Pila chargers, and one Xtar WP2 II charger. All my batteries come off the Pilas noticabily warm, while all batteries come off the Xtar cool. I'm wondering if it is normal for batteries to get warm on a charger. The Xtar charges slower than the Pilas, and I'm thinking thats why they don't get warm. So I'm wondering if the batteries getting warm is a problem as long as they are not getting hot.

the faster they charge the warmer they usually get. If you can find the amps the charger is running into the battery taht will probably explain it.
There is a good battery sticky by rolygate if you can find it.
I think a little warm, lukewarm is normal on most chargers.

I have used 3 different chargers, including the Pila, and the batteries get slightly warm on all of them. Using an IR thermometer, they measure around 80 to 88 degrees when the room temperature is in the 70's.

Warm is Okay, hot is not.

I'm glad you asked this question because I've been wondering about it too. Mine get quite warm on the Pila also. I have noticed that if I don't get around to taking them out of the charger as soon as they're charged and leave them there for a while, they become cool again in the charger.

Theoretically, that means that the charger is doing what it is supposed to be doing and stopping the charge process once the bat is full (of charge).
There are complaints that a trickle charge continues after the light turns green however.
dont leave them in there for a long time after

I have noticed that my cordless phone (not cell) is hot where the batteries are when I take it off it's charger...never worried about it before all the e-cig battery happenings! now I don't know what to think about it!
