I have a 6 volt mod. If I put fresh batteries in and press the button while my volt meter is testing where the atty connects, it reads 6+volts . I test the atty with my volt meter ohms and it reads 3.7. But I'm still getting poopy vapor. I've tried different attys, new attys, new carts, vg liquid, pg liquid, vg/pg liquid, still kind of poopy.

Can batteries read fully charged on the volt meter and still be weak? Do they get old and poopy and still read a full charge?

Batteries absolutely can read full charged voltage, and not put out any current at all. If there fully charged and they don't output any current (power), throw them away and use new ones.

Which kind of atty is that?

Shouldn't the unloaded voltage on two 3v batteries be above 6v, especially fresh off the charger?
I don't have a3v to test but a 3.7v tends to read above 4v.

Yes, you're right. The numbers are higher than the ones I gave. What I'm trying to say is that the batts charge full (3.0=3.25), but they seem to be dull. I've been reading about internal resistance in batteries and wonder if this is why.

Internal resistance is in the Milli-ohms area, not significant enough to make to much of a difference at all, although internal resistance increases as the cell dies. You could just have cells that are dying and not able to output enough current anymore. The ability of a cell to output current has nothing to do with voltage readings....

sounds to me like you have a set of batteries that have seen better days... how long have you been using this set of batts?

one thing you can do to extend the life of batteries is:

never use them until they quit producing vape... infact i change mine out as soon as vapor production drops off enough for me to notice. by doing this and never allowing the batts to discharge below say 2.8v you will be extending the # of times the batts can be recharged. and any time you discharge the batts to the point that they can't produce vape you are causing the internal chemicals in the batts to go thru a change internally that can not be reversed. so IMO by swapping batts out long before they reduce in vapor production will prevent damage to the internal structure of the chemicals, and is also extending life expectancy because they can be recharged more times per set unless they've been abused by over discharging... (which can also open the batteries to the possibility of reverse charging which is probably the second leading cause of CR2 overheating and failure.

I have had these batts a few months, maybe 2, 2 1/2 months. On occasion, I have run them dead, but mostly I change them out twice a day even if they're good.
I'm also wondering if it's the new 901 attys with the solid plate around the wick. It doesn't seem to get as hot as the regular 901's. I have a new regular 901 atty in there now, and it's better.
