Hello,

Sorry for posting in the new members thread. This is my first post and I knew you guys were valuable, mostly unbiased resources. I appreciate any help given. So last Friday, my sisters boyfriend said he had a mech and OBS tank that he wasn't using and offered to let me try it before I bought it. I loved it, hits great compared to the 510 I am used to. It is a cherry bomber (clone I am pretty sure,) as well as an OBS tank. So; yesterday I was hitting it and noticed the tank was really loose causing it to barely fire. I went to tighten the tank up and as I was putting the batteries in I mistakenly tightened them like REALLY tight. As soon as I hit the button the batteries started hissing, (the tank not delivering any vape,) and I freaked out and rushed to loosen/disconnect them. As I opened the back I noticed a disgusting smell and what looked like acid everywhere. I safely disposed of the batteries, (without touching them.) I am in a bit of a predicament because, before this happened, I had ordered 4 new batteries off ebay, (link below) and I love the way this thing hits, (Especially for only $25 altogether!) However, I figure if I do decide to take the risk and continue to use it, I will obviously use it with much more caution. (Probably only hit it outside and use my pen for inside.) (If batteries start to hiss again just literally GET OUT THE WAY lol, let them drain out and leave the mech on the sidewalk so I don't get hurt. It's not worth it for $25 bucks.) My question is this; do you think this was caused because I tightened the batteries too hard and punctured them? Or is it because it is just an inherently unsafe setup? (I have heard mechs aren't meant for tanks because of the unregulated voltage.) Also, this is a clone of a cherrybomber correct? I can also take a picture of the charger if it would be useful. Thanks and I appreciate ANY comments. :)

Batteries I bought on ebay (NOT ones that hissed):

Most likely your OBS tank has a short. Inspect it very carefully, measure its resistance with an ohmmeter if you can.

Probably not from tightening the batteries too tight, since it only started to short when you pushed the fire button.

Could also be a short in the 510 connector on the Cherry Bomber.

Make sure you have found the problem and fixed it before you try the next batch of batteries, or the same thing will happen all over again!

Good clear pictures of the 510 connector and the base of the tank might also help (we need to see the connectors themselves).

Thank you I appreciate that. I will definitely not be using it, at all, even cautiously. (Especially after reading about the shrapnel incident.) Do you have a safe box mod you would recommend for a n00b like me to use with the OBS?

(Edit: Here come the pictures of the tank. I forgot to mention the 510 connector is STUCK to the base of the tank. Should I grab some pliers and see if I can get it loose so that the tank can still be used?)
