thanks, just wanted to be sure that if something says 20A or 35a its the max and not the continous.

The specifications should give a continuous max amperage, and possibly also a max pulse amperage. The continuous max amperage actually follows an industry standard and can be relied on in most cases. The pulse rating standard is made up by each manufacturer and can be anything they want to claim.

If a battery has an amp rating on it. does it mean that it fires that amp all the time? or does it mean that is the max amps the battery can handle?

I have googled till my eyes crossed and can't find an answer.

should have just asked here first.

As has been said, it is what the battery can safely output. Companies like Sony, Panasonic, AW, LG and Samsung specify their batteries using maximum continuous amp output ratings and they can be compared between each of them. Companies like Efest, MXJO, Imren and others use pulse ratings that are not explicitly defined to how long a pulse they are talking about. These ratings are not as really meaningful.

Actual battery amp draw or output is dependent on battery voltage, atty resistance and weather there is any electronics in the mix.

thank you, if they had used your verbiage on the web (maximun continuous amp output) instead of continuous max amps output, I would not have had to ask the question.

all who replyed have put my mind at ease. now I can order new batteries.
