btw I just put in a different efest battery. Same kind of battery just a different one and now this thing is back to working like the beast it should. I test the first battery with my multimeter and its showing 3.89 volts so its not dead.

That's good news. Yeah, I've never even tried any battery but AW IMRs. One thing to note is that all electrical contacts arc - it's just on a REO you can see it. I see little or no arcing whatsoever and I'm running 0.6 ish ohm builds in all my mods.

I do clean and prep my batteries about once a month. Here's how I be doin it :)

I did that on a brand new mod. It's EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to NEVER file the gold firing pin. Just some alcohol then deoxit (or noalox if it's is your DOC).

Also remember that all batteries and mech mods require this (some require much more rigorous) type of maintenance.

Flashlights are good - here's mine and it's retired 2000mah AW's.

The standing batteries are 2200's and 1600's.

You'll get this thing bro. No worries. I wouldn't even try to mess with rebuilding it till you have put in an AW IMR 1600 or 2200 :)

wasn't sure if I should mention; but when I saw this ↑, I thought, "what the heck". . . ..

The contact surface on your battery's nose and the firing pin make up one point of contact together, as a team. So, if you're getting arcing and performance problems, that's fouling the battery as well as the pin. If you clean the pin but continue to use the same battery (without cleaning . . . if possible to clean without marring the surface), then that battery's contact surface is going to cause the arcing and foul the pin up again. When you switched to another battery, the pin was probably still clean enough to perform well.

The AWs should serve you well. Clean and prep the pin again before first use on them. :)

There really should be a sticky called "Battery arcing?...fugetaboutit" as this comes up about once a week with the usual suggested remedies being either change from batt x to batt y, or go from flat tops to button tops.

Reo Grands, Mini's and 2.1's are mech mods where unlike a tube (where everything is hidden) or a mod with a switch (where the arcing is again, hidden inside the switch) or a regulated mod (which is switched via a semi conductor so they don't count :p)...EVERY mech mod arcs, it's just that the Reo Alum. family of mods are exceptionally honest and show you, where others hide it.

AW IMR batts are a quality batt with a nice surface finish on the terminals which will lessen the arcing...but they're not magic batteries, they supply V and A like any other batt and therefore arc...as pdib mentioned, it all comes down to the surface mating of the pin and the terminal...but even if you give your batt terminals a mirror finish, they will still arc

...the cold hard reality is, if the arcing bothers you, slide the cover closed and stop looking at it :D...the arcing caused by the voltage and currents we are working with are no cause for concern and isn't causing any damage if you keep your contacts clean and protected with either Noalox or DioxIT (both products are good, Noalox is just more messy :))

yup, I hear you, most likely a sign of a crudded up batt terminals, or pin surface...those white vinyl erasures are your friend...almost the perfect cleaner/polisher for contacts (and batts). I just didn't want you to condemn your Efest flattops thinking they were entirely to blame...but rest assured it's not dangerous, the spring would collapse if there was a serious problem.
