Hi Guys,

I'm sure this is a stupid question but....
Just got a new Tustfire TR-001 charger and two AW IMR 18650 batteries and I've noticed that there is quite a loud hum/hiss noise when charging. Never noticed this before on my previous TR-001 charger but I have only ever used small batteries before. Just wanted to make sure this was normal as I know a lot of the issues battery issuce happen during the charging process.

Thanks,
Jet

I never had any issues with mine, had it over a year perhaps 2, I highly doubt that any sound coming from the charger is normal.

Here is what Rocketman had to say about it on a same issue just another thread...

It is most likely the charger making the noise. The DC to DC section of the charger operates at a high frequency. Although too high for us to hear, it can mechanically vibrate internal components at a frequency we can hear. It is most likely when charging current is the highest, often noticed with IMR cells. Some folks may recommend getting a Pila charger that moves that part of the circuitry to a wall wort .

Monitor termination voltage when charging is complete (with the voltmeter you have, or will SOON have :)), and watch the charger/cell for abnormal heat.
