I have a 1 Halo G6 wall plug, and 1 usb "thumb charger". These are obviously used together to charge the 808 battery. I ordered 2 more of just the small thumb usb chargers that are to be used straight into a usb/computer outlet for 2 more batteries. My question is: Can I plug the wall outlet in, connect a non powered 4 port usb hub into that (it' a usb 2.0 compatible hub), and then charge 3 batteries at the same time? I'm using all Halo G6 products with this configuration btw.

The charger says 500ma output, and the usb thumb charger part says 150ma output, so my thinking is that 3 batteries connected at the same time should add up to 450ma of power requirement, so it seems like it should work, but I don't know enough about usb powered/unpowered stuff to know if this is safe/would work.

Sorry dormouse, it's on the charger right now (charging one batt like I'm supposed to) and I can't read the thumb charger specs!! I like the idea of using a powered usb now that I think about it. If each port is rated at 500mA, that's exactly what the wall charger is rated at, so that seems like it would work with no problem.

Are you using a generic powered usb, or is there a certain brand you would recommend?

I'm guessing there's more of a problem if the thumb chargers are receiving too little power vs too much. They are regulated to supply the correct power if receiving 'too much', but can't do anything about too little power, right?

MAH is just Milliamp hours. In order to go through with it safely you need to check the amperage/voltage limits. We're talking 5v and anywhere between .5-2amps per battery. If the USB hub can handle 15-20v and 1.5-6amp you're in the clear, if not you may have some problems in the future with that setup.

I agree with Dormouse, always accurate.

Thanks CMC. All the powered hubs I've looked up are required to be connected to a computer to 'get it going'. I'm assuming I can plug the powered hub into any one of the Wall chargers I have to light up the hub, and then the powered aspect of the hub comes into play. I'm just looking for a one location multiple battery charging "station". I'm not too savvy when it comes to volts and amps and all that stuff!

I would not do that. I only use powered multi=powrr AC to USB where each port is allocated at least the standard 500mA.

Your thumb chargers - what do they say they expect as Input?

the wall charger specs are...

Input Voltage: 100 - 240 volts (AC)
Output Voltage: 5 volts (DC) Charger Frequency: 50/60 Hz
Output Current: 500 mA

Here are the specs per thumb charger...

Input Voltage: 5 volts (DC)
Output Voltage: 5 volts (DC)
Input Current: 500 mA
Output Current: 150 mA

battery specs...

Battery Actual Voltage: 3.3 - 4.2 volts
Battery Rated Voltage: 3.7 volts
Battery Capacity: 200 (65mm), 280 (78mm) mAh

I get confused looking at all this stuff:blush:

I'm using a 2.6amp "CyberPower" powered USB hub totally independant of a computer.
Just plug the power cord into the wall, and plug a PT and three usb chargers into it.

Right now it also has a lead going to my computer USB port, with the PT, one USB charger, and my 2T external HD pluged into it.

I'm sorry tj, but what's PT? Is that a passthrough, and is it needed, or can I strictly just have 3 usb chargers in it?

I use 4-port ones with 2000mA total (500mA available for each port when 3 things are attached)

You can try what you are doing. I don't know enough about the electronics in the chargers to say whether the thumb chargers NEED at minimum the input mA they list they expect as input or if they will limit the mA properly if you provide them anything with at least the mA they want to output. So it is not what I do.
