Since I've been a member here I have been reading to the point of sore eye's.

I read of issues with Efest, which have been the batteries I use and Sony has issues with counterfeiting of there VTC5's and a possible discontinuation.

I check my favorite suppliers and they are out of VTC5's and Efest are plentiful. I check Amazon and if they list Authentic Sony's at $35.00 for two and very low stock.

I prefer IMR batteries due to their safety and look for higher mAh ratings for longevity, I also look for higher drain amps because it allows for options.

Granted, today all of my devices are regulated and have a 15 to 30 watt limit BUT, I am investing in a few quality rba's and would like to pick up a couple of quality mech. mods once summer is over for the suppliers, I believe early September.

What is left for safe and sound choices?

Thanks

Chipotle.
LG 18650 2500mAh high current hybrid IMR battery HE2 Flat Top

Cheaper and very close to the VTC line, at 15A and lower you would be hard pressed to tell them apart from the VTC4 or 5. Great battery, the LG is a quality choice IMO especially for the price.

Edit: If you want to wait for the lengthy shipping, Fasttech even stocks the LG's for even cheaper(Ignore the Li-ion labeling, fasttech is dumb that way) - http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10004182/1659701-lg-icr18650he2-3-6v-2500mah-rechargeable-li-ion

The Samsung INR18650-25R is a good choice also.

It's discharge curve looks absolutely great when used within it's 20A cont rating.

The Samsung is a solid battery, I have been enjoying a pair for about a week now.

That is definitely a battery that is not getting enough press IMO, considering it's basically the best cell out there below ~7A, which works amazing for regulated mods. I'm going to grab a pair of them soon to put in my box mod, thanks for reminding me to look them up!
