Since I am just starting in the mechanical sub-ohm world (my first mechanical and rda is with USPS somewhere between CA and FL) I thought I would get my thoughts out on batteries, PLEASE correct me if I am wrong. I have been doing much reading on safety, usage, types of batteries, safer chemistry, sub-ohm limitations as it relates to amp draw and the batteries max amp limitations.
My take away on what I have read is that I will not be building coils less then 0.4 ohms, and that may be pushing it. I think it was Pete Busardo said "the challenge is to build big cloud producing coils at higher ohms" (not an exact quote). I think Rip Trippers said "more surface, more flavor" (again, not an exact quote). I also have gathered that a 20amp battery (i.e. Samsung 25r, LG HE2-call a spade a spade) can handle down to a 0.4 ohm build safely, however a better, safer build would be 0.6 - 0.8 ohms.
Ok, my epiphany. If I do happen to build a 0.3, the Sony VTC's are best at 30amp (I currently only have two VTC4's, my other batteries are lower amps and for my Vamo). If I can't get VTC5's (If you've been looking around you already know they are few and far between) should I go for the Samsung 25r? Probably. Now the controversial, the Purple Efest 2500 "35amp" (yes, I put that in quotes
) battery at 20amps, would I buy it? I would probably get an LG HE2 if they were available.
My first and foremost goal in doing this is SAFETY. I like my hands and would be very upset to lose either of them and not be able to build coils. That is part of the fun of this "hobby" as I call it (my wife would argue that it is a hobby
).
