I'm pretty new to vaping, the question I have is about battery's. The mod I bought is the vapeonly vpower, it came with 2 battery's, they are icr14500 700mah. My problem is that the battery doesn't seem to last very long, I was wondering if there is a more longevious battery I could purchase that would be suitable for my mod. Also, I'm using the kanger protank 2 with 2.2ohm coil

Well, that size battery is extremely limited in power due to its small size. Add to that, you are using this battery in a VV regulated mod which will draw even more power from it than a mechanical mod would, and the time of use between charges drops even more. These facts are the reason why you don't see many mods that use this size of battery.

Variable voltage (regulated) mods use buck boost circuitry in their processor to adjust voltage up or down. This requires the use of a "high drain" battery - ie an IMR (li-mn) unprotected battery. These are also called safe chemistry batteries because they do not need protection circuits built into them.

The best battery in this size and class is the AW 14500 IMR 600 mAh battery. Other brands of this size and class may advertise higher mAh ratings, but in my experience those ratings are way inflated and not to be trusted. For example, I've used both the AW and Efest batteries in this size, and after a couple of weeks the Efest's time of use fell to half of what they were when brand new. The AW's are still working good as new.

BATTERY BASICS FOR MODS: IMR OR PROTECTED ICR?

Those are protected ICR Li-Ion batteries, not high drain IMR's.

Word of experience in the vaping world - never trust any battery with ****fire in the name. These are a lesser tier battery group that are not generally recommended for use in a mod. The only battery that has vented into thermal runaway (exploded in flames) that I've used in a mod was a Trustfire protected ICR battery. I do NOT recommend them.

When choosing batteries for a mod, this is the progression that you should use:

  • 1- AW IMR (Li-Mn) batteries (these are both high drain and safe chemistry)

  • 2- other IMR or hybrid chemistry name-brand batteries (also high drain & safe chemistry) (Orbtronic, Panasonic, Sanyo, Samsung, Sony)

  • 3- protected ICR name-brand rechargeable li-ion batteries (Orbtronic, Panasonic, Sanyo, Samsung, Sony)

  • 4- batteries made by Surefire, Trustfire, Ultrafire (not highly recommended)

  • 5- unprotected ICR batteries should not be used in mods.

  • 6- rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries sold by Radio Shack, etc should never be used in a mod.
