IMO, it would be best to start off with a couple of new batteries but the old ones you have should 'work'.

Considering they started off as fairly low quality batteries ( 7a ish ~ 10a maximum CDR) and have been used, how well or how long they'll work is impossible to say, as batteries are used & age capacity declines.

Always buy batteries from reputable vendors / dealers such as;
RTD Vapor
Illumination Supply
Lighthound
Orbtronics

LG He2 and He4 are also good batteries. You want to make sure they have as a minimum 20 amps continuous. Efest doesn't actually make their batteries. They buy them and rewrap them. Unfortunately they print some things on the rewrap that are not true. They state they are 35 amp batteries but in reality they are 20 amps continuous. Pegasus Vapor Academy does a good job at explaining what is going on with batteries in the vape world. You can find them on YouTube or their .com site. Good luck

I just got these early January so thinking of using them up until I upgrade to the newer batteries. I just want to make sure it's okay to use them and they're able to fire up the mod fine (and will not explode on my mouth). :)

Go no lower than a .5ohm coil and you should be OK. A .5ohm coil at the full 30W has a 7.75amp drain on the battery which is within the same limits of that battery.

The mod itself allows a coil down to .3ohms. This would be borderline with those batteries. It works out to exactly a 10A battery drain which "should" be safe, but you're pushing the limits to the max.
