Battery maintainence question

I use a box mod that is bit on the tight side in replacing batteries (14500). They've gotten a little mashed over recent weeks and this last weekend, the positive cap on one of my batteries became loose--kind of sliding across the top of the battery when I placed it in the mod or charger. Still works fine, takes a charge and lasts me through the day. Just wondering if I'm taking a risk using it and should I relegate it to the garbage bin or is it ok as long as it is performing properly.

To be on the safe side, I'd suggest getting rid of it. You'll never know exactly when it's dangerous until it's too late. There's no reason to risk serious injury over a $10 battery.

I agree, I wouldn't take any chances with a battery that has any indication that it is not in one piece or a lose piece. The box that you are putting it in, is it a mod you or someone made that maybe you could enlarge the space so that a 14500 fits better?

I did the same thing with a 14500 trying to shove it into a box mod. I just threw it away because I don't want to take any chances. I'm getting some more 14500s because supposedly they started making them larger. If they are still too big, I'm going to get some AW 14500s because I'm pretty sure they're smaller. cloudsofvapor is going to carry LiMN high drain 14500s soon, so I need to figure out if those will fit also.

Yeah, I'm still learning. Shoulda cut the spring on the negative side down. Coulda cut a plastic post from the corner of the mod that made things so tight.
