Is the Prodigy no longer available? I wanted to get one but PS is out. I am looking for a batt mod, but don't want to spend $150 and wait a month to get it. Is the Protege good? What about a Lil Chuck?

Also, I don't know how some folks are getting 2-3 hours from a 510 batt, but those darn things only last 25-35 minutes - tops. I have 4 in rotation with a charger and PCC.

I need something with a stronger hit, because after a few beers, I'm dragging on the 510 to the point where the next day my tongue and jaw hurts.

I have heard several good things about the chuck... I got a great deal on a copper for black friday $40... may still be available. i dont know... the thing that drove me to the copper other than the price was the it has a mechanical switch not an electric one... but you will find that this a can of worms that has been opened many times and people will endlessly and passionately debate about whose got the best mod... good luck, do your research, and choose what you like best.

Yes, the 510 batteries are very annoying, the absolute most time I got from one was an hour. I own a regular Chuck and it is awesome. I get strong and consistent hits every time, and the battery lasts for 2 days! I don't own a little Chuck, but I'm sure it's just as good, only a shorter battery life. As for the Puresmoker items, I don't own either, but I have read a lot of issues with switches getting stuck. This can be dangerous if it gets stuck on. So, I recommend the Chuck or little Chuck. You will not be disappionted with performance or customer service.

I had a Blu when I started vaping and like you, my battery lasted me about 30-60 mins tops unless I took a couple drags an hour. I mad a homemade bat mod using 3 AA bats, and it was better, but it looked like crap. I ended up getting a big Chuck and I highly recommend it. My 18650 bat easily lasts 2 days, at which point I charge it, even though it could probably go at least another day.
I've not used to Protege or Little Chuck, and I'm sure both would work well from what I've heard. With the Little Chuck taking a smaller bat (not sure what the Protege takes off-hand) most people get about a day out of them. So if you're looking for battery life, I'd recommend getting something that'll take an 18650 or similar battery.

I love my Little Chuck which lasts about 6 or more hours with the 16340 battery (I have some that are 1300 mAh but they are unprotected, protected batteries are recommended). I have a Chuck too, and it will run 2 days on the 18650 (a 3000 mAh battery). These are 3.7v. You have the option of running two stacked 3v batteries in a Chuck (only) to vape at 6v. Personally, I don't care for it and am quite happy with the 4.7v vapor of a freshly charged battery.

The size of the battery and the milliampere hour rating (mAh) is how you determine how long it will run before you need to swap out to a new battery.

The battery size also determines the size of any battery mod unit that you are buying so you'll need to take that into consideration when deciding on any model of battery mod unit. (I wanted both sizes so eventually bought both... Little Chuck is great for taking out in public).

I have 3 GLV's. 2 of them are 5volt and 1 3.7volt. I really like the 5volt much much more than over 6volts that you will get from other devices. When you put 2 fully charged 3.6volt batteries into a mod without a resistor your actually going to be vaping at around 7volts. Also the GLV has great button placement so you can put it in your pocket without fear of it heating up in your pocket. I can't do that with my side button mod at all. I have already fried 2 attys because of the easy press side button. Also the GLV is really light weight but made well. I love mine. Just my 2cents.

He's right.

5 Volts is the sweet spot.

I have a DIY video somewhere around here that will teach you to make your own 5 volt PV. I like 5 volt, an end cap Power lockout, and superbright LED's. You can't buy that commercially.

I don't have a GLV- I made my own.
Yep. I don't even use my so called 6volt anymore. The flavors are just too burnt/harsh tasting but I guess some people like that. Me personally I like to taste the flavor un burnt. I get a really good throat hit from the 5volt too.

So the 18650s are batts that you purchase from another source and they are rechargable?

Is there a long wait time for a Chuck (non-custom)?

I don't think a non-custom one takes as long as the custom ones:) I have 1 and recommend them:D You can also use 2 cr123's for 6v on a chuck:D You can get batts and chargers at www.batteryjunction.com just make sure you get the protected batts:)

Chriss, they're rechargable. You can get them from HighTechDealz usually and he carries the multi-function charger (will charge all kinds of 3.7v li-ion batteries). He's sold out right now, but should have them back in soon. He still has the charger.

My Protege works very well with the 510 atomiser. You know the lovely vape you get from a freshly charged battery? The advantage of the Protege and similar mods is that you get this for much, much longer. Even so nothing is perfect and this advantage will fade after several hours use.

You'd have to talk to Jeff to see if he has any already built, ready to ship. With mine, I got a basic hunter green with no customization and I got lucky. He had one sitting there ready and waiting, so I ordered mine on Saturday and got it on Tuesday. On all of the mods though, I've heard it is worth the wait, so you shouldn't just make your decision based on immediate availability.

Does the Chuck switch work well? It looks, in the pictures, like it really sits up high. Is this not a problem for damage or accidental pressing in a coat pocket?

The switch may not be the prettiest of all the mods but it works quite well. Mine has never stuck, open or closed, and never fails to fire. I've never heard of anyone else's having problems either. Some mods do have performance issues like these, but you'd need to research that yourself.

The button on a Chuck does stick out and there is no master switch, so it could be accidentally activated in a pocket, but I usually keep mine in my inside chest coat pocket and have never had it activate that I know of (if it has, it didn't run long enough to get warm). I could see it activating in the pocket of a tight pair of jeans, but when I do keep mine in a pants pocket, it has never activated on me. If you're concerned about this, just unscrew your atty 1 turn or so so it no longer makes contact and cannot activate regardless.
