I am hoping someone can answer my question relating to batteries of same make ---3.7 900mah, same ICR Number, (18350). One is used in the Screw Driver, and the other used in the m601 pipe, why can't I use the batteries from the pipe in the Screw Drive, when I do the atty and unit get real hot. Now I do not have a m601 pipe to try the screw driver battery, since I purchased these batteries thinking since they have the same specs. on them it would power the Screw Driver. Not in my case, had to order batteries from T.W. for the Screw Driver, at a higher price.
Hope I have explained by question, and hope there is some answer to it.
Thanks in advance.
Hope this is in the correct place on the Forum!!!!!!

I had the same problem with the batteries that came in a dse905. They looked the same as the 900 mah batts that were in my protege, but don't interchange. I had no luck finding the batteries for a screwdriver anywhere else on the web other than totally Wicked's site either. The atty and unit getting hot I think is a sign of your atty grounding out by either being to tight(which I doubt you did),or there may not be any protective plastic coating on the bottom of the battery. Since the screwdriver battery rest on a metal flange, if there is no plastic on the very bottom of the battery it will automatically turn on. I had that problem with a battery that I dropped and tore the plastic off. Fixed the problem with an o ring that rest under the battery. And one more oring in the middle of the device on the threads to kill the extra space. Never have to worry about that again. And it looks kinda cool while adding an extra bit of grip. Don't know if any of this will help, but thought I would throw my findings out there.

Thank you for your reply, I did compare both the 601 (call it that) and the S.D. battery and yes I see where the S.D. does have what appears has a plastic ring around the base, where in the other does not. When you say O ring, what material should it be, and where would I purchase one.
Oh so glad I asked, thank you.

You can get an o ring kit for very little money.Anywhere from a 10 pc set for 2 dollars or so all the way to a 1000 pc set for like 10 15 bucks. I got a set at Harbor Freight 4 or 5 years ago and still have them all over the place. You would probably have more luck with a big set like the 1000 pc.They come in handy around the house anyways. As far as the material, any rubber o ring will do fine. Glad I could help.

And one more thing I found. Sharpe permanent marker caps make for a perfect button cover. Makes it a one hand deal. You can pop the cap off the button, take a drag, and replace it with one hand. And you can color coordinate your screwdriver!Wicked! But if you lose your button cover you should give this a whirl. For some reason the black marker caps don't fit.But brown blue and yellow fit like it was made for this purpose.

Thanks for the info, RE: o ring........do I just put it on the bottom, then place the 610 battery..........then screw to atty. Suspect that is what I am to do, just need to verify.
You have been a great help.

Yes. I just put the o ring directly on the metal flange in the bottom half of the device. Put the battery right on top of it and you should be good to go. You'll have a gap in your threads because you have just made the battery a bit taller. I filled that in with another o ring. Looks pretty nifty. That and I can always tell my sd from my pals. Good luck.

Hello again, update on current question:
Because of you my Screw Driver is all better, the fix you suggested, is working fine, I went to Wally World and purchased a pkg of O rings, multiple sizes, ...was fortunate to find two, that did the job, just the one on the base of the mod wasn't enough to clear the screw, found a smaller one, put that on top -- and walla everything fits just fine, the atty screws in with no gap, can't distinguish which battery, the 601, or the S.D. O Rings are of a composite material, not rubber, what I had in rubber didn't fit.
Mucho thanks from me and my S.D.
Toni
