You can put as many batteries in parallel or series as you like.

In series you increase the voltage with each battery you add...capacity remains the same.
2 1.5v 900aH batteries in series = 3.0v 900aH
3 1.5v 900aH batteries in series = 4.5v 900aH
4 1.5v 900aH batteries in series = 6.0v 900aH

In parallel you increase the capacity with each battery you add...voltage remains the same.
2 1.5v 900aH batteries in parallel = 1.5v 1800aH
3 1.5v 900aH batteries in parallel = 1.5v 2700aH
4 1.5v 900aH batteries in parallel = 1.5v 3600aH

I was wondering because. What if you made a holder or something that put 2 batteries in series parallel wouldn't that increase the voltage and amperage or do you need 3 batts for that?

Tropic, your "Series Parallel" Statement is like saying "Turn Left Right" when giving someone driving directions... Series and pararllel are two different circuits...

Here is a link that may help as a refresher... wiring diagrams comparing the two circuits you mentioned... 94 Battery Wiring Diagrams

Hope that helps,
Mike

what i am saying is say you have 4 batts 5v 1amp. you then pair up 2 batts in series to give you 2 pairs of series batteries to give you 10v. Then you put those 2 pairs in parallel which gives you 2amps so you would have a series parallel circuit which gives 10v and 2 amps. Huh, I just answered my own question you cant put 2 batts in series parallel because if did they would just be in parallel. sorry for the confusion, the mind is a strange place:?:

yup ... pretty much :) Sometimes its easier to diagnose when put on paper.
