Hi REOnauts... I wanted to save my first post to include a photo of my Grand in hand. Change of plans. I have zero experience with mechs, but the impending Vapocalypse has pushed me into Reoville.

I know the AW IMR 2200maHs are recommended, but I'm concerned about rewraps etc. I have a thing for Imrens, & a preferred vendor. I want to be as safe as I can first, with battery life a close second.

I wanted to bounce this off the forum, & see what feedback I can get. Pre-thanks, & I'm excited to join this ultra-supportive community!

Get them from RTDVapor. He's a REOnaut, and has an excellent track record, in general, and for AW batteries.

Just as an aside, I've been using the 2200 mAH ones for several months, but I have to say, I like the 1600's better, they seem to stay above 3.7v longer. Counterintuitive, I know, but that's just my "gut feel" Definitely avoid the 2000 mAH ones, they're "weak"

I have to agree about the 2000 mAH are week. I have been using the 2200 for months too and have like them I don't have any of my old 1600 mAHs to compare. I will get some on my next battery buy. I no longer have any of Sony's or Samsung either. I know I have months of good use from the batteries I either given away or tossed out but can't help myself from getting fresh new ones.....I am seeking therapy.

RTD VAPOR is the only vender I'd feel totally safe with buying real aw batteries! No question.. been buying from them since they opened.

I'd second the aw 1600s.. I bought the new 2200s last time. 4 of them and I'm not doing the life span.

I'd go 1600s.. bit we shall see what's new in 6-9 months when I go to replace these.

He also sells color wraps which are cool and cheap! I bought black so the red color don't mess up my super light (sl) reos color scheme.(don't buy them unless you got a heat gun. Blow drier is not hot enough).

AW was the first to offer IMR chemistry back in 2008 before anybody else. Panasonic/LG/Samsung/Sony only began selling their hybrid cells around 2011. Imren is a new company less than a year old. With their performance/safety track record, I 'll go with AWs.

I would have to go dig around in some really old posts of mine but you do realize that aw is nothing more than a guy in hong kong that rewraps high quality cells straight from the manufacturer. the 1600 18650 cells were(possibly still are)rewrapped Panasonic cells.

batteries have a grading system(grade A cells, grade B cells, etc.) and are sold accordingly. aw is guaranteed grade A cells which is why they are so good. you buy any other cell, even approved brand batteries, you have no idea what grade they are so performance could vary widely from cell to cell(spec sheet means very little, nothing on a battery spec sheet is accurate). with aw you are going to get the same consistant performance every time.

p.s. aw was not the first to offer imr batteries, just made them infinitely more accessible. laptops and power tools have been utilizing the cells since the late 90's(they were invented in 1996) and early vape modders and flashlight enthusiasts were using them long before aw became a thing.

your battery history lesson has concluded for the day

This is the kind of thing that I try to avoid. If AW is merely rewrapping a Grade/Class A cell then all's well that ends well, but it still kicks the hornet's nest of conspiracy theorist in me which I try to keep heavily sedated...

you don't believe me? this is the guy who is aw. he started in selling batteries for flashlights. his name in Andrew wan AW's LiIon Batteries Sales Thread *Part 12*

there is a ton of info on that forum about the man, and about his batteries. here is a thread talking about them being rewrapped(although this particular thread is about icr batts)AW Batteries?

an interesting blog in german, but translates well enoughhttp://translate.google.com/translate?client=tmpg&hl=en&langpair=de|en&u=http%3A//www.mountainprophet.de/2015/03/28/die-neuen-aw-akkus-teil-1-die-roten-imr-von-2015/

he tests and screens batteries. started with panasonic-- no clue what he uses now. not a manufacturer.

still, most of us trust his batteries over all others

ETA: mebbe he tests cells and wraps up the batteries himself. same thing

I was just providing proof to the non believers out there. he uses more than Panasonic now....but Panasonic is what he started with.

I only use aw so I am not bashing what he does.

there are only a handful of batt manufacturers out there. do you think effest makes batts? no , they don't. trustfire? nope. hell they may be the same cell as an aw, just a highly inferior grade. aw is a company that sells quality control more than anything else

Can you name which company who made IMR chemistry in 1996? All power tools in the 1990 era used NiCad/NiMh batteries. I have never heard of any laptop using IMR batteries since all manufacturers are going after the longest run time which is not the main feature of IMR batteries. They all use lithium cobalt chemistry instead. I would love to learn more battery history, but only the correct ones, please.
