Hey Reonauts, my first week in Reoville is going well but all the talk about AW batteries has me wondering.....

I am using Japanese Panasonic NCR18650PD 2900mah in my grand (I had them for my first APV). Is there any reason I should not use these? Why are the AWs better?

...Also is there a consensus of wheather or not to use a safety fuse like this.

I use these as well as 1600 mAh AWs and Efests. They last a long time. The Orbtronics are rebadged Panasonics.

Orbtronic High Drain 18650 2900mAh NCR18650PD Hybrid Li-ion (each), but AW batteries are similarly regarded as quality too and a safe bet.

I don't use a fuse in my usual Reo Grand because i dislike how much it compresses the spring, what i do instead is exhibit coil paranoia to the point where i will measure a new coil on maybe 2 or 3 different meters just to be sure that there is no short-circuit, since that is the most likely way of causing your spring to collapse.

Thanks! (I'm exhibiting coil paranoia as well --I checked my first coil on three different meters:laugh:)

Question to put out there.
I just saw a REO mini for sale in the classys. The picture was showing Ultrafire TR 14500 1200 MAH batteries with it.
Has anyone here tried them? Would love to double the battery life of the recommended AW 600MAH batteries but I don't want to if not safe!

They are not the recommended battery. My daughter used them in a Mini. She was a lot happier with the AW IMR. Don't let the increased mAh of them fool you.

The Ultrafire or Trustfire are longer batteries. For me they compress the spring too much. Not enough room to collapse if needed.

I just would rather play it safe and get the shorter and recommended AW IMR.

The mAh being higher in other batteries does not compel me to buy them.

There are some who believe Panasonics are superior to AW : http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...igh-drain-version-part-1-a-3.html#post8861675

That comes from the guy at Orbtronic, so YMMV. I think they are at least on par with AW, both of which i buy regularly. I also occasionally buy Efest, although I kinda hate them. I thought the first ones I got were all DOA and wouldn't charge until my tired, old eyes FINALLY detected they were shrink-wrapped over the connections.

I believe it was Baditude who posted "never buy a battery with 'fire' in its name" :) I've used Trustfires and Ultrafires that were included with other stuff i bought, but i wouldn't buy them.

EDIT: i keep this bookmarked http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/438046-battery-info.html#post9996925
