Battery question

At the risk of being labeled "that guy", my only point was that AW IMR's, purchased from a reputable retailer, are your best bet at getting a consistant, quality battery. To my mind, REOs deserve no less, and using anything less would be like putting retreads on a '64 Jaguar XKE. We all have to decide if we want to push the envelope. I'm too old to putz around with what may or may not perform as well as a "known" battery, and so far, AW IMRs from RTDvapor, have been just that. A known, reliable battery. If that ever changes, I'll have to source something else, but for now, I couldn't be more pleased.

And yes, I've tried Sony's (VTC5's), and the AW IMR 2000mAH and 2200mAH, but I always wind up coming back to AW IMR 18650's in the 1600 mAH, and generally wonder what I thought I was going to gain by trying something else. I'm all about simple, dependable, low maintenance, and in fact, value those higher than "performance". It just happens that I can have both with a REO and the AW IMRs.

I tried a side-by-side comparison between an AW IMR 1600 and a 2200 to see if the 1600 hit harder for longer. I couldn't tell the difference except that the 2200 lasts til the bottle needs refilling. The 1600s don't last as long.

I had never used an AW battery until I got my Reo. Figured if that's the battery the mod was created around I should use it. I'm liking them so far. I went with the 2200 for the staying power and they do seem to last quite awhile. I'm still trying to get a feel for when to pull the battery so generally they're still at 4V or a hair above that when I check them.

Hi REOnauts... I wanted to save my first post to include a photo of my Grand in hand. Change of plans. I have zero experience with mechs, but the impending Vapocalypse has pushed me into Reoville.

I know the AW IMR 2200maHs are recommended, but I'm concerned about rewraps etc. I have a thing for Imrens, & a preferred vendor. I want to be as safe as I can first, with battery life a close second.

I wanted to bounce this off the forum, & see what feedback I can get. Pre-thanks, & I'm excited to join this ultra-supportive community!

These ( High Drain IMR 18650 Battery 30A Orbtronic SX30 rechargeable Li-ion Li-Mn ) come in a handy button top model, so they are Reo friendly...30 amp max discharge, 2100 mah. Orbtronic is a reputable vendor. I use these and AW's exclusively.

I use both the AW1600 and the 2200. I had some lightly used 1600s when the 2200s came out last fall, so I just kept the 1600s in my rotation.
I'm a little weird, in that I like to full my juice bottle and swap batteries at the same time. For that reason, I don't fill my juice bottle all the way up. I found that with the 1600s, I'd vape about 4ml of juice, and my batteries would be at around 3.65 to 3.7 volts, consistently. With the 2200s, I get about .2ml more, before they drop to the same voltage. Just a couple squonks. Not a big difference. My usual build is ~.45ohms, so either the 1600 or the 2200 are well within safe operating range. The 1600 is rated 24A, while the 2200 is rated 20A.

Well after reading all this I guess I'll stick with the 2200s. Don't have the 1600 to compare with but I usually swap batts when. I refill the bottle. So I guess I can't ask for more.

I have Sony's and AW's, for the Sony's their VTC4 & VTC5's and for the AW's their 1600 & 2200's.
My Sony's are getting replaced by AW's for two main reasons. My Sony's are all getting old and starting to drain faster from the amount of cycles they've had. Secondly, I can't find anymore cheap authentic Sony's anywhere on the market. I got shafted online from a person who was selling authentic Sony's. The listing appeared to be for two vtc5's for $30 and free shipping. I ordered, and when my package arrived there was only one vtc5 that showed up. Well the picture he had showed two Sony's and the listing mentioned vtc5's (plural) throughout the entire description however I didn't read the fine print as it said this listing is for one authentic Sony vtc5. I was so mad afterwards, once I realized I got taken, this was from an order off amazon. My vtc4 is complete junk now, that cell is pretty much dead and I don't use it in my rotation anymore.
When I ordered my last two mods I decided I'd order four AW batteries to try out. I got two 1600's and two 2200's. The only difference I've noticed between the two cells is that the 1600 hit harder at first fresh off the charger, but the 2200 last about an hour or 2 longer before they get pulled and recharged.
I will only order AW's now because I know they work and I haven't had any issues with them since I've owned them. They are easily available, cheap so I won't break the bank ordering replacement batteries unlike those Sony's floating around that you'll stumbled across so rarely. Even the battery wrap stays nice and new looking on them. With all my Sony's the battery wrap is torn, and it looks like there's moisture under the wrap from the heat shrink changing colors going from normal color to a darker green. The flat top pos end is all pitted from arcing off the firing pin, non of my AW's have pitting on the pos contact. It would be nice if AW came out with a battery more comparable to Sony vtc5's. 30A limit and 2600mAh, that's the reason I bought Sony's first, plus at that time they weren't too expensive and were available and people weren't copying them yet, so you didn't really have to worry if they were authentic or not. This of course was before their factory took a hit and was shut down and their batteries weren't being snatched up everywhere like it was some vapocalypse.
