Battery questions

Seems all the mods I see whether DIY or retail use the 18xxx, 16xxx, or 14xxx batts.
Why are CR123's not used? Has me curious because I am also a flashaholic (CPF member since 2000) and they are used alot in lights.
Also in flashlights, boost circuits are used alot to boost a single AA/AAA batt's voltage to power led's and regulate them for output. Could they be used in mods for pv's?
Would be nice if that could work and have a mod that runs off of a single AA. Could make for nice compact units.

cr123 is equivalent to a 16340, 16355, 17340, and 17355
Trog's Screwdriver and the spark plug use a single cr123
Silver bullet, GLV, Chuck, and anything that takes an 18650 can use two cr123s in series for 6v or 7.4v. I'm using two lifepo4 3V 17340s in my SB right now.
