Battery safety check on first mech mod setup

Hi All
Just wanting to check whether or not the technical side of my setup is within decent safety parameters for the battery/s I am using...

I'm running a Nemesis clone (no kick) with an AGA T2.
Battery is a Efest 18350 - 800 mah (I also have an Efest 18500 - 1100 mah).
The coil is 28g kanthal 5 wrap on a ss mesh wick and I got an ohm resistance of 1.2 on a multimeter.
Coil lights up evenly.

first questions - at what points on the tank did you take the ohm reading? at the top on the screws and center post or on the bottom where the 510 connector is? (bottom is the correct place to take the reading from) and did you zero the meter or subtract the meter's leads resistance (my leads are .3 to .4 ohms - this makes a big difference in correctly building coils)

4.2 volts at 1.2 ohms equals 3.5 amps (yes I did that in my head - ignore the website behind the curtain - http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/ohmslawcalculators.asp )

should be ok if the you read the ohms properly

great job on getting a genny coil to light up so good - was this your first try? if so you are a natural.

It's rated at 8C, so 800mAh x 8 = 6400mAh discharge or 6.4A.

Your coil 1.2Ω, and assuming a fresh battery charged to 4.2v: I=V/R = 4.2/1.2 = 3.5A.

Sounds ok to me. I don't like to push my batteries to much more than 70% of their rating - it allows a margin of error and the fact that batteries do degrade over time.

Ohm reading came from the screws.... oh dear.:oops:
I did however deduct the resistance of the leads from the reading.:)
I have had only 20 puffs or so on the coil setup so I will break it down clean it and rebuild checking the ohm reading from the top negative screw and the bottom of the centre pin.

As for the coil I did actually have 3 tries before I got it right.

Thank you for the link to the calculator.
