i think hes asking if you can see the battery through the mod, like an acrylic, PMMA or ABS box.

the black wraps do look cool. ive got some clear wrap myself that i plan to use if the need/boredom arises. i feel like the clear would look pretty cool too.

Yes, it just folds all on its own. Kind of surprised me when it did it too. I used my wife's blow dryer. It worked perfectly.

the heat is one of the main things that has kept me from re-wrapping my batts. that and the fact that i havent damaged any of my original wraps (yet). i know the factory must have applied heat to do the original wrap, but i just feel like im causing unnecessary damage to the cell by applying heat to it. is my concern unfounded?

i guess basically what im asking is if the heating process is really quick, or are you blow drying for an extended amount of time?

It's fast and easy. Takes about 30 seconds and it's not a lot of heat. I highly doubt it could hurt the batteries at all. I do it in my hands and doesn't burn me at all.
