I have a galileo mech mod and while I was on my break vaping I noticed my battery started warming up. I quickly took out the battery and it was kinda warm. Switched it out with another 18650 and the one I put in was fine. Same aerotank same coil. Any ideas as to what may have caused it?

What was the voltage of the battery that got warm? How old was it and how low do you drain your batteries before changing them out? What charger are you using? Did you check the ohms on your coils to see if maybe you have a short? Over tightening some atomizers onto the mod can bend the wires and create a short.

Are you sure the battery was warm and not the heating up of the atomizer was transferring heat into the tube and such? If the battery did heat up, would recommend recycling it, it is now in a non safe critical chemical state and should not be used again. Battery maintenance, care and proper storing is a must for all vapers, especially those who use mechanicals. YOU are the only safety mechanism that is provided when using a mechanical without a kick or a fuse. Proper care, understanding and knowledge must be attained and used when one owns a mechanical mod.

Vape long and Prosper!!!

Check the battery's cover for nicks, breaks, openings where something may cause a short. Also how old is the battery? Has it seen it's better days? Things to consider, has it been accidentally over- discharged or accidentally over-charged or accidentally shorted a couple times or used with sub-ohm coils or left in the sun or left in the cold?

These things can age a battery prematurely, it changed the internal resistance and chemical structures inside the battery which can cause a failure. Keep a very close eye on it if you do use it again...:)

Thanks for the reply guys.

The battery voltage was 3.7. Checked the coil resistance and it was 2.0. Battery is only 3 weeks old. I figured it wasnt the atty heating up the tube to the battery.

I took off the tank and put it bank on and after putting it back on, tried to take a hit and nothing then I felt it warm up. Took off the atty and put it back on vapes fine. I noticed it wasnt warming up when it was vaping properly. Now im even more confuse

Edit: also now Im getting harsh throat hits on a 2 old coil any inputs as to why?
