Brace yourselves, I'm having a thought :)

You know how there's a ton of room just above the bottle cap? I'm contemplating rigging up a warning light there that would go off when the battery drops below, say, 3.5v :) All it should take is a small IC, 2-3 resistors, and an LED. Should be able to mount it to the plastic "guts cover" without any drilling or soldering of the other parts.

The kit and schematics are here: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11087. The circuit board they include would totally not fit, would have to use the Reo's internals cover for a circuit board.

Question is -- any of you electronics nuts can come up with an alternative and possibly simpler schematic?

Also, Rob, do you happen to sell the replacement guts covers for the mechanical Reos, on the tiny non-existant chance I completely mess it up? :)

But wouldn't that eliminate the ability to dunk your REO in water for a bath? I kind of like to bathe mine once in awhile.

Could it be made to be removed for bath time?

Your "thought" seems to have a lot of merit. At least I like it. Since you're appealing to electronic nuts (which I'm not) for simplicity and miniaturization, you might think about trying an electronics forum for solutions. I would think there is something small enough for hand held devices already on the market, including a much simpler schematic.

Keep up the thought processes ... ya done good.
