Many people believe the advertising that some of the cig-alike manufacturers use.
No! You cannot vape wherever you like.

dont get me wrong, i like vaping in places i normaly wasnt allowed to smoke, but for certain situations i understand "walking away to take a vape"


as someone earlier mentioned, to a "ignorant" person who walks into a room filled with vape - first thing they think is FIRE! had it happen multiple times in my own bedroom with guests.

same with vaping in a car with children. theres a time and place, the car with kids.... is definatly not the right place - it may not cause any health effects, but the image itself is whats harmfull.


personaly i would ask the manger who told me not to - ask him if it TOTALY not allowed in the workplace, or if someone is just aggitated and would like for you to take it elsewhere. if its not written in a handbook or anything, they legally cant fire you for that reason specifically otherwise youd have a nice lawsuit and $$$

In the US, yes. Not in Canada. Considering Health Canada already frowns on the practice, being fired for vaping when you were asked to stop would stand up at any labor hearing.

In my workplace, in Canada, you do not have authority to fire someone when there is no law...Imagine my supervisor telling to not to wear shorts at work when it +40 outside, or not to chew gum, or not to bring my own soup at work because we have a cafeteria downstairs Because this supervisor tells you too...

Considering is not a law nor a rule or regulation... I consider you not drink any more coffee at work because Health Canada suggest that it contains caffeine and caffeine at a highly addictive substance, when hot, releases mist that could be second hand caffeine.

Does this make any sense? Yet I have told you as a Manager to stop drinking coffee in the workplace... I don't know I find it that we are trying to find every little bit of stupid thoughts and make other people think its bad...

Don't use microwave, it produces radioactive substance, at a so low level that, may cause cancer...
Don't use toaster in the workplace because it could release metal substance in the air quality...
Don't drink the ink out or your pen because it might be harmful...

I am just using my common sense here... How stupid can human be?

For the question about my stealth vape in the office and my blowing the mist at my feet, is because I told this information to my manager that first he approved and brought it up to upper management. But this upper management said that HC is not authorizing this in any public places... I just want to know where is this information coming from cause I cannot see anything on Health Canada with this statement.

Good point... this was only to make sure that, If ever a complaint falls on his desk, then he would know the facts of the laws lol...

Common sense doesn't enter in to it. Health Canada already thinks they can prohibit ejuice sales and importing. If you were to be fired for vaping after being told you can't, it would be upheld due to Health Canada rules.

I think the main "problem" in the work place is that vaping creates the illusion of smoking and we can't expect everyone to understand that it is like fresh alpine air compared to cigarette smoke. I recently had a business meeting in a hotel room and asked my associate I was meeting with if it was OK to vape as it's a non smoking hotel. They agreed but were then very worried for a few minutes that they would get in trouble for allowing smoking in their room but after a few minutes and no smell and noticing how quick the vapor disappears with no smell, my associate realized it was just an illusion and told me they were no longer concerned at all. Lots of cloud chasing vapors use more VG or even all VG because it creates more of a cloud, I wonder if we can invent a formula for use in the work place that does just the opposite - no visible vapor? Well that's a tall order but perhaps a formulation for vapor that disappears even quicker than normal?

My suggestion us to make up an information packet from the CSAA materials and pass it out to your coworkers. Ask them to read it and let you know if they have concerns so you can ,as a group , help set a fair policy. Make sure to tell them that being around smokers will hinder your efforts to quit using vaping. Be pragmatic and respectful but educate them as much as possible. Good luck

That is just what I do. I mix with little or no VG so there is less visible vaper.
For myself, I don't need to see clouds to enjoy the vape. When you think about it, do you enjoy the vape less if it were in a dark room or if your eyes were closed?

In my case I am using a Joytech (without push buttons don’t remember the model name) and produces close to no vapor.

For the few people that are vapors at my work I don't think they will start to cry like babies. I contacted the Health and Safety people and... They have no clue what to do and waiting on a reply from HC.

They have taken my email for consideration and also they will contact the municipal authority (Police) to provide them additional information, but the person told me, himself, that this misunderstanding was as much important than a person farting not telling anyone and people smell it but don't do anything as they know it will fade away, someday.

If there is a hard smell then, to bring fish or a nice garlic shawarma sandwich in the office will have to be revised and this could piss off a lot of people.

I remember reading a story of a new hire consulting with HR on her first day and asking if it was ok to vape in her office. The answer "No, only because I can't give you permission to do that". So her next question was, "Ok, so how will you know if I do anyway?" and the answer was "I guess I wouldn't". I vape at the office while sitting at my desk a lot, but if someone comes in that might not be familiar with it I don't. Never had any problems, don't expect to. I'm more fortunate than many in a way as it's just a "hobby" job and if someone did ban vaping at the office I just wouldn't come to work any more. It's going to take a while yet for everyone to get used to the technology and the safety of it to be established (surprisingly it took a long time for smoking to be considered dangerous, so it will probably take just as long for vaping to be considered harmless, or at least harmless to those around you).

Smokers have been beaten up for so long... Even back in the 80s when you could still smoke on air planes I was in the smoking section on a long trans-Atlantic flight but I had a bad headache and smoking seemed to aggravate it so it was about 6 hours into the flight before I reached for a cigarette, the lady sitting next to me frantically dove for her purse to get a cigarette also. Turns out she was going through hell but wouldn't smoke because she though I was a non-smoker (as I hadn't been smoking). I thanked her for being so considerate but also reminder her it was the smoking section and she might have just asked if she was concerned it would bother me. I guess we just have to be considerate and keep a low profile until the pendulum swings back the other way and it's OK to vape anywhere (hopefully that will happen someday but I'm sure it will take many years).
