Still waiting for an answer from Health Canada

I feels like it’s an ongoing battle from the public and Health Canada on the Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate.

They are trying to avoid the questions sent from public forwarding them to an out-of date 2009 Advisory.

Now in 2014, almost in 2015, HC has no additional information on if “vaping” is accepted in the workplace. Last time I have checked, my municipal Police department has provided me information that there is no law prohibiting vaping in neither public places nor workplace. I am not talking about cloud chasing or making it obvious to have people look at you while you continue to make the most vapor in an environment.

I have recently sent them an email asking them to clarify the Non-Nicotine vs. the Nicotine intake. They seem to trigger e-cigarette using nicotine content and not e-cigarette that has no Nicotine.

HC: “Nicotine is a highly addictive and toxic substance, and the inhalation of propylene glycol is a known irritant.”

What about Vegetable glycerin? What about Non-Nicotine liquid?

Health Canada has yet to provide me with accurate, scientific proof of the health and air quality hazards. Always returning to this out-of date 2009 advisory that can be found at the following link: Archived – Health Canada Advises Canadians Not to Use Electronic Cigarettes - Recalls & alerts - Healthy Canadians Website

I remember the time when we were able to smoke in the workplace and in public... and when the law on No Smoking was applied, we, smokers, had no problem to switch outside and respect the law. Even with the 9 feet restrictions, that most smokers don’t even respect, smokers had no problem with this law.

vaping. Vaping has no carbon-based substance. So when tobacco is burned and inhaled, one of the 4,000 or more chemicals that enters the body is CO. They are saying that they want to add e-cigarette to the smoking by-law, therefore forcing us to go outside with potential harm from smokers. I mean let’s not exaggerate on this. Cars make more pollution on a daily base then someone blowing water particles in the atmosphere that contains vegetable products.

A rumor has been going through the net saying that e-cigarette could, should, or may, but with no scientific evidence that only statement or opinions and not facts...
I am trying to fight a fight with my hand covered with boxing gloves and my opponent with bare knuckles. We have recently been notify that Minister Ambrose announced on September 29, 2014, that she is asking the Standing Committee on Health to study the potential risks and benefits of e-cigarettes and to seek the advice of a variety of health stakeholders.

No information can be release at this time... No information can be release... what are they hiding or scared of telling us? That E-Cigarette has more beneficial to health than nicotine replacement therapy?

Anyways, I will continue my battle with Health Canada until they can have an answer for me...Public Health; everybody has the rights to accurate information and facts on their health.

Keep up the fight my friend and if you want my help with a testimony or other such information Please let me know!!!!
I know that there is a pile of miss information flying around but also know it is about the tax money they are losing and doing their best to discourage smokers from trying vaping as opposed to smoking. I also know they will be trying to get their tax fingers into nic juice soon and the cost will sky rocket if and when they do.

Good news,
I have just received my first official letter from my municipal police department. They have provided me proof that E-Smoking is neither ban nor illegal in the NCR. She has instructed me that any complaints to an e-smoker can be taken as Harassment.

She has advised me that Government entities has their own policies within each section.

The loop here is that upon doing my research my department clearly state, “Health Canada, has issued warnings on the use of electronic cigarettes which are nicotine based since these cigarettes pose a health concern for certain segments of the population such as children, pregnant women, people with heart conditions etc. Health Canada has confirmed to OHSD that these types of products are prohibited inside a federal workplace. For further information click on the following Health Canada Link:

http://www.healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2009/13373a-eng.php”

which doesn’t state anything but advises people to… Well in this case I advise people to go to work in the flashiest shirt and paint their faces green or blue…
What about Caffeine? Caffeine is a health concern for certain segments of the population such as children, pregnant women, people with heart conditions, high blood pressure etc.

I have also asked, if e-smoker would vapor non-nicotine liquid what would be the consciences…Here is the official response from HC:
“Thank you for your further inquiry, dated October 29, 2914. As indicated in our earlier response, electronic cigarettes with no nicotine and no health claims can be legally sold in Canada as consumer products under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA).

The use of these products in public places is the responsibility of provincial and/or municipal authorities. These authorities are best placed to advise on the application of smoking bans or by-laws to electronic cigarettes“.

So here, until further notice, I am aloud to vapor without the fear of losing my job or getting harassed.

:)

If people want laws that are concrete, therefore a nice process and clearly define laws and not stuff like, well we think that it’s… or you shouldn’t… or stuff that say, WE ADVISE…

I think people should get educated instead of assuming…but yet I am only advising…
