A good piece there, the more publicity the better, and it doesn't get much more high profile than the BBC! If e-cigs are gonna take off at any time, this is the year. I'm amazed nothing big happened in the UK when the English ban came in - or the Scottish one a year or so previous for that matter!
I recall, on the night of the implementation of the English ban I was actually in England. After the pub, I watched a documentary on the demise of smoking. Vic Reeves was in it, and I distinctly remember him speculating about a strange electronic smoking device emerging in the future. Ha. Incidentally, Vic's answer to the ban was to convert his own shed into a 'pub' in which he could smoke to his heart's (and lungs') discontent.
The DOH 'borderline' thing does concern me. I find it pretty hypocritical when they endorse the useless Nicorette inhalator. I'm also angered by the paradoxical 'Thou shalt not smoke' cr@p, at the same time that the government rakes in a massive fortune from tobacco taxes. The bottom line is: they don't really want people to stop smoking - particularly now, when the economy's screwed.
