It looks like Clark is in the top 3 for the premiership. My penmanship is atrocious. Would any of you like to put together a letter and some information/links so we can sign it like a petition? We can all pitch in on the editing and info too. Who would like to volunteer?

oh rachelcoffe,:)

if you write to Christy Clark - give her the link to Dr. Carl Phillips site: www.tobaccoharmreduction.org
he conducted a study on ecigs through the University of Alberta - and now heads up his own institute to study various tobacco substitutes and how they've affected smoking populations worldwide.

ALL the leadership candidates should be approached - this is an opportune time to introduce your agenda. Political competition is intense and will remain so until the provincial election. The same letter addressed to each candidate requesting a response or follow up should start the ball rolling. Repeat when the provincial election is called in 2012.

I highly recommend reviewing the information at Tobaccoharmreduction.org for those who have not yet done so. I have given the link to health care providers and policy makers, all of whom have respected the initiative as it was started at the U of A, and all of whom now have an increased awareness of the positive aspects of vaping vs smoking.

Gary, I’m afraid our current focus is on actually winning the leadership campaign. Should she be successful and she actually has some down time, I’m certain she’ll be able to pay greater attention to your proposal.

You're welcome! I'd like to find out more about her stance on the regulation of a product like this.

Hi there,

A short while ago I sent the below information to her through her website, but to the extent possible, would you also see if this information could reach her - I think she'll find it fascinating!

Cheers!

Hello,

I know that if elected, Christy would like to cover the costs of nicotine replacement therapies. ( Clark Will Cover Cost of Nicotine Replacement Therapies | Christy Clark )
I know she's a former smoker, and I'd like to know if she has yet become aware of a new technology and worldwide phenomena that is helping millions of smokers quit cigarettes by switching to Electronic Cigarettes (e-cigs)?

It is a very simple device that simulates the act of smoking (hand to mouth action) but eliminates the tobacco, fire, smoke, heat, tar, ashes, risk of burning, risk of home or forest fires, and thousands of carcinogens, by replacing them with a battery operated device that has a small heating element which, upon inhaling, produces a water vapor (like in theatrical fog machines). SInce there is no smoke, it's not smoking. Since there is vapor, it's come to be known as vaping.

On February 27th, there will be a meeting of the Vancouver Vaper's Club and I'd like to extend an invitation to Christy to come by and say hi, and learn more about how this new technology could be the holy grail of the quit smoking movement!

Here is a link to Dr. Carl Phillips, professor at the University of Alberta and Director and Chief Scientist at TobaccoHarmReduction.org for more information about his work, his findings, and his support for electronic cigarettes as a tobacco harm reduction tool.

Thank you in advance for forwarding this to Christy - I hope we hear back if she's interested in a demonstration of how and why these really do work when other nicotine replacement methods have failed so miserably!

With her help, or that of someone else in politics, we know without a doubt that Canada could take a major leap forward in ending smoking related illness and death.

All the best!
