My daughter uses a PT at work (she is a nurse)
She was vaping and walked away for a minute...when she
Came back the carto on the PT was on fire. Please do not keep them plugged in.
Thank God it wasn't plugged in to the computer and she wasn't gone long.
It was a auto passthrough.
Just thought I would let everyone know to be real careful.

Yup, those pass-thrus are very unpredictable. I've had them stick ON a number of times and thankfully heard the sizzling of the cart. Oddly, it seems as though it is mainly the "new and omproved" models that do it the most. The one here on my desk is from my original kit (14 months old) and has always worked flawlessly. The one I keep in my truck (only a few months old) I have to really pay attention to, you never know when it might stick ON. The manuals may not be as bad, but I would still be causious.

Yikes, Yikes and more Yikes. Thanks for the posting. Who would have thought that. Appreciate the info. I plug mine into a wall adapter. No more walking away when at the computer.

This ls so strange, the originals had No cutoff's, so we changed them and now have 10-13 second cutoffs , so there should be NO issues. If you do have any problems, please, let us know, in the comments section with next order. You pick color from in stock, and we replace, free!!!

Enjoy

Steve

One thing I can attest to: I usually never read instructions that much - I'm ignorant I know, but alot of other people out there like me. Who would have thought to read instructions on a passthrough. Just saying. - Not me thats for sure. Will from now on.

They use to come with warning message in package when purchased to not leave unattended.

It's not really instruction's per say just a sticker on wrapping of PT where you open it up to get to it, definately could see it....at least last time I ordered one that's the way it was which was probably 5 month's ago last time ordered PT.

I have a couple of pts and the only one that has 'stuck' on is the 510 in my car. I caught it in time and unplugged it and it never happened again but it sure makes me wonder. I have drug my V4L pt down the street while driving in my car and slammed it in the door twice and it still works with no problems. :)

I just want everyone to know.....I am NOT blaming V4L for this. I have used many PTs from them and batts for that matter. This is the first auto that my daughter has used. It just scared her to death and it could have been a real bad thing if she had not went right back to it and found it when she did. I just wanted to remined everyone to be careful with PTs and not to walk away from them when they are plugged in.

There are one or two failure cases where the cut-off won't enter into the equation. They should be far more likely with manuals than with autos, though. That said, I haven't seen the guts of the latest auto passthroughs.
