We also had a Unique sale yesterday. It started at 18:00 Pacific Daylight time which was about 01:00 (or was it 02:00) your time. I get confused during Daylight Savings Time because I can never remember if the UK does DST. From November (basically) to March April, London is 8 hours ahead of the Pacific Northwest.
we do have daylight savings, but I can never remember when it changes - I just hope that I hear about it on the news! I do know the rhyme - spring forward, fall back. didn't get why it said fall back, until one day I asked, and was told the american word for autumn is fall!

YES! On the JAVA thing. Until Oracle releases the 'fix', DISABLE your Java!! There's some nasty malware out there recently that uses an error in JAVA to get in your computer... That 'could' be some of your problem Kathy. No way to know for sure unless you run the correct virusscanner.
