Don't stress on the occasional cigarette. Think about all of ones you didn't smoke in that time! My husband and I have been vaping for almost 2 years, and he still has a cigarette every morning. Considering that he used to smoke a pack a day (or more), that's a lot of cigarettes he ISN'T smoking! For me, I'm pretty much done with those awful things, but it took several months to be done altogether. For a long time, I would have one every couple of days, then every couple of weeks, then it dropped down to every couple of months. It's probably been 6 or 8 months since I've had one now.

As far as upgrading to something better, that's kind of up to you. vaping really started to get satisfying for me when I moved to a VV ego. I use Spinners, but Twists and Winders are about the same thing. I just got a richer, stronger vape when I could turn it up a little (or down, depending on the juice). And for me, that set-up, along with Kanger T3's, has worked fantastically for a long, long time. You can upgrade as high as you want, though! Someone will probably be along shortly to tell you how you should get a mech mod and start wrapping sub-ohm coils any minute now...

Good luck!

maybe try some different flavour or nic strength juices to find a juice that satisfies you.
i smoked for 25 years but once i found juices that gave me a good throat hit it was easy kicking the analogs.
i havent smoked for 14 months now and honestly cant remember the last time i thought about a "real" cig.
good luck and i hope you find what your looking for here

I found that vaping is one of those activities that started with a replacement for analogues, and morphed into a hobby. You can experiment with ecigs, trying out different attys, mods, juices, and when you get into building your own coils and mixing juices at home you'll know it's taken over from cigarettes! Just need to keep an eye on the spending though, a little bit on attys and a little bit on juices soon mounts up. It still costs much much less than smoking however.

I mean the biggest tip is to get rid of all your lighters, matches and cigs so that it's a huge pain/expenditure to smoke. Next, like you're doing, be willing to spend some cash up front for better equipment and juices so that you can be satisfied.

Once you get used to working with the protank (changing flavor wicks, dry burning the coil, etc.) you want to get some kanthal wire ($7 for a huge spool) and cotton so that you can learn to rebuild the coils for improved flavor. At that point, you're ready to get into rebuildables like the kayfun.

Check out youtube for some videos and how tos as well as juice/equipment reviews.

Good advice here.

If you want to quit completely, do as stated above and get rid of ALL your smoking stuff. If limit your access and are determined to quit, you will quit completely.

Also, as stated above, some folks cut down significantly which is OK too, depending on your goal. I've been vaping for about nine months and still smoke a couple of butts per day, which is a far cry from the pack-a-day habit I had for over forty years. A lot of people that know me well are shocked that I was able to even make such an improvement. I will reiterate that, at least for me, it's not about the pack per week or so that I am smoking, it's about the 6-8 packs that I'm NOT smoking that same week.

There are a lot of addictive chemicals in cigarettes besides nicotine. Some people find it easier to make the switch than others, but some willpower is always necessary.

Is there anything in particular you want from your e-cig that you're not getting? Maybe we can help you find something more satisfying.

Ultimately though, you've got to use your e-cig when the cravings hit and resist that urge to smoke. You may need to use a higher strength nicotine, or just keep a stronger one on hand to deal with cravings.

Keep at it is the best advice I can give you. Don't beat yourself up over the ones you smoked, concentrate on the ones you didn't smoke and it generally falls in place.

Up your nicotine levels if needed, vape more if needed, upgrade if needed - it's all on your terms.

You will crack it, at your own pace.

:D

Like many have said focus on the ones you haven't smoked. I'm 3 weeks quit after 32 years. I smoked Camel Straights, and rolled cigarettes. So really every day i'm tobacco free is a small miracle. I use a harsh tobacco 2.4 to cure any jones, which is largely psychological for me now. In short, give yourself some slack, and bloody well-done.

Do not worry about it. The main part is that you have the occasional cig. It took me 8 months to completely get off cigs. The last 3 months when I would want a cig I would reach for the vaporizer first to see if that would take the edge off and sometimes it didn't but most of the time it did. I weaned myself down to 5 cigs a day then slowly down to 4 then 3 then 2 then 1 then none. I still have the cravings after eating and sex though and that craving will not go away anytime soon.

I suggest you raise the level of nicotine in your juice. I really didn't get off the cigs though until I got into mods and droppers and kayfuns.
If you only vape tobacco or menthol flavors I suggest getting a nice mod, stay away from nemesis because of the firing button troubles are not worth it, I suggest a panzer ss or a panzer black hawk simple to use and worth the money with a rocket clone or kayfun clone and stay away from genesis model attys for now. This is my own opinion though.

Goo luck.

A cigarette now and then is ok...although you may find lighting up and realizing how bad they really taste after being off them, is enough to not want them as bad. I even used to just light one up and have the smoke next to me while I vaped, helped me lose the cravings to actually smoke a cig.

Getting enough nicotine can be tough; the particles of vapor absorb differently than those in smoke. Try holding the vapor in your mouth instead of letting your lung tissues do the absorbing. Your cheek and gum tissues absorb the vapor better than your lungs, I'm told. This has proven to seem the case for me; when I held the vapor in my mouth for several seconds instead of just inhaling it, and exhaled slowly through my nose, the cravings got less right away. Just remember the mechanics of this nicotine delivery system are different than those of smoking, even though you inhale the vapor, and you may get more out of vaping than you did.

If you want to upgrade, you can get a kanger aerotank (won't leak down onto your battery) and mabe an adjustable voltage battery to go with it; ego makes them, so does vision (the spinner 2 is great!). While I can't say I *needed* all the upgrades I've grown through as I vaped for the last six months, I *can* say that they made vaping easier and more attractive to me than cigs.

Why ? What makes you reach for a cigarette instead of your eGo ?

Maybe your upgrade will help. A few tips :

- Every time you want a cigarette, vape. Give it a few minutes, and if you still want a cigarette, go for it. Make a deal with yourself. Cigarettes are ok but only if you've vaped for a bit first.

- If you happen to still crave a cig after vaping, then by all means have one. But analyze your feelings. What is it that you're craving, really, that the vaping didn't give you ?

- Make smoking a pain in the .... Keep your pack in your car, or as far away from where you are as possible. Keep your vaping gear under hand.

- Finish off your pack but don't buy a new one right away. Wait for the next bad craving. If you do buy a new one, buy a different flavor than your usual - maybe a lower nicotine level, or a brand you like less.

- Keep an emergency tank filled with a higher nicotine level than your normal juice.

Am I not using my ecig enough or does it take some time to switch off all together, using basic ego starter kit. should I upgrade to something better.:D

Do you use the sweet, fruity & candy vapes? I vape tobacco, coffee, & café mocha and mixes of the 3 and I never even crave an analog stinky cig.

You have to STOP BUYING CIGARETTES and VAPE ONLY. Yes you will have a desire to smoke, FIGHT IT. Don't Smoke.

Eventually that desire will pass. Might take a week or a month or 2.

You can also try upping your nicotine intake by going to a stronger nicotine level on your e-liquid. Then after you are completely off the cigs start dropping the nic level.

It is not easy for most. It wasn't for me. I smoked for a month after I started vaping. After 2 weeks I stopped buying cigarettes and bummed from other people around me that smoked (Actually they were happy to give me a smoke. Some kind of self justification as they knew I had started vaping). Then one day I was having a real cig and asked myself why am I still doing this? I haven't had one since and most of the time I have no desire even when around people that smoke.

I do think about it every now and then but I don't and those thoughts pass.

I'm only 2 weeks in, but I stopped the cigs from the 1st day because i ran out and didn't want to buy that last pack. If I went and bought a pack for 1 cig, I would smoke the entire thing. The vape is keeping me from going to the shops at the moment. And i agree about the higher nicotine level! if I want a cig, I vape and vape and vape and the feeling goes.

You are right! They put chemicals in the tobacco to make it more addicting. And if big tobacco companies take over e-juice, they will do the same thing to the juices.
